From then to now ...
When I went on holiday as a kid and got "who do you support?" 'Burnley' "Who?"
To the people that said we can't compete at this level financially.
To those that said Dyche is not up to it.
To those who said our board will not push the boat out.
We've gone from Marco Gentile and Gordon Cowans to spending more in this season than we have from 2002-2015 combined.
We have a state of the art training ground being built.
We're 9th in the league.
We've just been the highest spenders in the Prem on deadline day.
Our home form is the envy of many of the best clubs in this country.
And Dyche is a god amongst us mere men.
No longer will we have to say "it's near Manchester' when asked who Burnley are. This little milltown is rising up again and what a journey it will be - UP THE F'IN CLARETS!!!!

Re: From then to now ...
I even got stopped in London on Monday when wearing my Burnley coat by someone who recognised the club badge and complimented the team on how well they are doing this season! Glorious times and long may they continue!

No!
Villa?
No, Burnley.
Who?
Fully agree with your post though. Kids of the naughties are loving life as clarets, they don't know they're born!

I traveled to New York 2 years ago. When I landed and went through passport control the guy working there smiled and said "oh your from Burnley, I like your team. Ill watch the game on Sunday". That sunday George Boyd scored that beauty against City.

Most Thais are Man U or Liverpool supporters/fanatics but there's a lot of good things being said about the Clarets these days in this part of the world. Someone today asked me where I was from and when I said Burnley, he listed the names of most of the first team although he struggled pronouncing some of them!

Nephew born in 2005 - he got his first (half) season ticket last season in the CFS after going on odd games over the years. It took until that Swansea game for him to see us lose - He must have thought we were on par with Barca haha.MACCA wrote:

Sons just gone 10. Never seen us lose to Blackburn, looks on in disbelief should a rovers fan try and bring up the premier league trophy or smashing us 5-0. He thinks they are crackers!

10 years ago on Friday, Burnley lost 3-1 to QPR at Loftus Road, Chris McCann scored and the only other positive is that Andy Gray came off the bench but was still recovering from long-term injury. Later, Burnley would have to sell Gray to Charlton Athletic to balance the books and any hopes for promotion diminished. The club were treading water in the 1st Division and looked destined for more mediocrity - at best - for the foreseeable future.
This season in the Premier League, Burnley have spent nearly £40m on new players, breaking the club record transfer-fee 3 times in one season and are currently sitting in the top half of the table.
Football, eh? Bloody Hell.

The best thing to see is how proud they are to support Burnley.MACCA wrote:Sons just gone 10. Never seen us lose to Blackburn, looks on in disbelief should a rovers fan try and bring up the premier league trophy or smashing us 5-0. He thinks they are crackers!
My nephew has had to juggle following Spurs (my brother in law is from Tottenham) and supporting Burnley (I wouldnt allow him any other team). But the difference this season is making on him supporting Burnley is madness. Yes, the days of popping off last minute to an away game and getting beat were actually quite fun - but a bit of me does envy what these kids are getting haha.
