Strange encounters

Post by ClaretAndJew » Sun Feb 05, 2017 3:11 pm

Just been screamed at in a high pitch tone as I drove down Burnham Gate. Turned my car around to drive back down to see if it was anyone I knew, got screamed at again. Stopped my car to ask what's going on. "I didn't scream at you, am I not allowed to scream? What's your ******* problem" he said.

The thing is, this guy was in his late 20's easily, and had a woman with a baby in a pram next to him.

He looked very tattered. It was a strange experience.

About 15 yrs ago me and a mate were walking along a path in a park in Thatcham, attempted to walk around some slow walking bloke and he stopped, then asked us what our problem was.

He'd pulled out a Stanley knife and was holding it close to his face.
He was stood there staring at it, then us and seemed to be waiting for an answer.
When we said we didn't have a problem, he put the knife away and carried on walking....

Was more then a little bit nervous...
We asked around afterwards and he was a know drug user and was clearly off his box when we walked past him.

Was out screaming earlier and this tit in a car decided to turn around and start asking me a load of daft questions. Not sure why he couldn't just mind his own business.

Man of Kent,

Fortunately I'm familiar with Burnley already, but it was just very unusual. I thought maybe I knew who it was, hence why I went back. But when he did it again I just stopped my car, not for any sort of fisty cuff confrontation, but just to ascertain what is going on. Like, was there a reason for it? Does he know me? But evidently not, just some stranger who screamed at me in the car.

This kind of incident can be worrying at the time ("why me?" you think) but unfortunately random encounters with oddballs like this (many of who are under the influence of substances) do happen. Just like the woman on the tube who thought I stared at her (I didn't) and she followed me off at my stop and screamed foul abuse at me at the top of her voice and tried (rather unsuccessfully) to push me onto the tracks. I obsessed as to why she chose me for her idiotic attention but then I just realised I was in the right place at the wrong time. It could just as easily been the bloke next to me.

Yes you are right.

I think I have a tendency to dwell on these encounters. Someone screamed at me from a red van in Padiham a few weeks ago, again random, but it's like.. what do people get out of it? Hahaha.

And no, there's nothing unusual about me for them to shout stuff.

Yea funny from mickelover!! Could it be the way you dress or your hairstyle causing these outbursts of screaming?

Doubt it, I don't dress any differently and I have a fairly neat, short hair style.

Years ago I was walking down the path from the car park to Wycoller. An old man stopped me. He was about four and a half feet tall. Dressed in a black 3 piece suit and wearing a black fedora. He pointed to a nearby farm and said ' in 1924 a lamb was born there with 2 heads' and then walked off. I'm convinced ive met the Devil.

Was he screaming?

Did he have a stanley knife?

Did he run off into the side of a red van?

As I was out walking on Burnham gate in Burnley earlier today, I heard what sounded like a high pitch scream, looking over I saw a car with a nosey looking bloke in it, double back and approach the screaming man......

To survive walking through Burnley fans after the derby in 2000 at t'turf, I joined in shouting abuse at my fellow supporters coaches..

Glad I didn't go into the town that day! :)

No. He was evil incarnate. He didn't need props, weapons or lack of spacial awareness

Does the short haircut come with ringlets and a trilby hat for instance?

I remember a DJ thinking it would be clever to wear his rovers jacket in a pub in town and have a sly snipe over the mic.

Some lad had enough and his equipment ended up in about 40 pieces outside the door

Was down town years ago outside Panama Joes and was approached by a man who asked to borrow my trousers :?

Said he wasn't allowed in due to wearing jeans and that he would throw my trousers through a window at the back so that I could make my way home re-united with my trolleys. Don't even think there were windows in PJs?

Several, including a few very with members of the local constabulary with dubious reasons, and very odd members of the public whilst working.

One of the weirdest was on the way back from working in Bolton quite a while ago. There used to be a lay by and toilet block on the way back, where we used to pull in for a brew and to use the facilities. This occasion, there was no one around and after a while my mate went in to the toilets. After he got to the van, I went in, and there was someone stood at the urinals, which was odd because I hadn't seen anyone go in. I got the impression there was something not normal going on, stood the other end, quickly finished and departed. Back in the van, it turns out he was also at the urinals when my mate went in, and must have been in there for sometime. We didn't leave immediately, and he still hadn't left by the time we had finished our drinks.

A few years ago was driving up Briercliffe Road about 7am on a Sunday morning, when a guy ran straight across the road at full chat dressed only in his keks, carrying his clothes and shoes.

Naughty boy!

Stood on Ormerod Street in Burnley on Hallowe'en when I heard a commotion coming from the direction of Paradise Island (as was) and as I looked round I saw a blue painted chap landing on his arse with a rather unhappy bouncer stood in the doorway shouting "NO SMURFS!".

I wouldn't mind, I was working at the time and therefore hadn't been drinking!

It wasn't funny at the time,

about 20 years ago I stopped off at South Mimms services and I was getting that pain at the bottom of the spine...

Went to the gents, no one in there except one chap washing his hands. Went to the cubicle and sat down, felt very relieved.
Someone went into the cubicle on one side of me and was very quickly followed by someone going into the cubicle on the other side. Odd I thought, plenty of other cubicles...then I saw the hole the size of a 50p coin in the partition. I stuck my elbow in it, and then saw another hole in the opposite partition and stuck my left elbow in that.

Well that was me stuck for 5 minutes until they buggered off, both elbows in holes in the walls meant I couldn't reach the bloody toilet
paper !!

When I left there was just the same chap washing his hands. I get the feeling his hands needed washing rather regularly.

A few years back whilst travelling, I found myself fast asleep in a dorm room in Uruguay. I was probably dreaming about Graham Branch at centre half as my sleep was disturbed enough that I awoke with a start.

About 12 inches from my face, a guy Id never seen before was staring straight at me. Feeling somewhat scared and half asleep, I simply pulled my duvet to my chin. Perhaps taking this as a signal he proceeded to vomit all over my chest (thankfully now covered). He quickly ran off, I thought this was the most intense dream Id ever had until the horrendous smell shook me properly awake.

Anyway, I changed beds and back to sleep I went and in the morning I couldn't find the vomit strewn duvet anywhere. I spent the day thinking id made it all up until I was approached in the hostel bar that night by a Kiwi.

'Excuse me, mate. I had the weirdest dream last night. I dreamt I was sick all over your bed. I wasn't...was I?'

Could have been, but I wasn't hanging around long enough to ask.

There's probably someone on a board elsewhere telling a story of a strange encounter with me. I went in a cubical in a v.busy services on the m1 somewhere in deepest yorkshire. Lifted the lid and the whole seat came off, fell to the floor and skidded into the next (occupied) cubical. Being somewhat in desparate need of the seat, I had no option but to grovel beneath the cubical wall for it. I'm not sure what I would have thought if a seat then an arm appeared beneath my cubical wall, but they never asked.

Not me exactly, but one of our group. On holiday in Greece years ago with the lads (about 12 of us in 6 rooms). Heard a commotion next door and went in with another couple of mates and one of the lads was not happy. It was about 5.30am.

Basically, the room mate woke up and asked him "Oi, (we'll call him Steve) Steve, who's that bloke in bed with you?" Steve replied with a few choice words and kept his eyes closed. Again "Serious, who's that naked bloke in bed with you?". Again, the reply was blue. Again, "I'm not effing joking.....

Light goes on, and sure enough there's a random naked bloke in bed with him. He jumped out, shouting at this bloke. Bloke, obviously drunk, looks around the room, scratches his head and just says "This holiday gets weirder and weirder"...and walked out...naked. I don't even think he was in the same hotel, and he never had any clothes with him. Needless to say 'Steve' has never been able to forget.
