Spot on CT.......amazing what Wenger has done at the gooners, likewise Dyche and our Board......we all know what footballs like and the minority who moan, then complain, then shout for a sacking, then don't go to games and then return when we win few and get promoted.........

Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
I find the Ranieri situation ridiculous but why on earth Wenger has to put up with this after what he's given Arsenal is just crazy.

Fans are very fickle,if we lose our next few matches there will a few on here who will be calling for Sean's head.. Sad but true
Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
Wenger deserves all he gets , like a spoilt child when he doesn't get his own way , pressure telling now because he hasn't won the league for 13 season which for a top club isn't good enough.

Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
Could you Imagine if Sean had won us three league titles and 6 FA cups we be keeping him in dungeons at the ground
And has for Wenger his first game in charge of Arsenal he beat the Horses fiddlers 2-0

Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
Wenger appears to have stubbornly refused to buy in the key areas that plenty could see was needed. A quality striker, a top quality centre half and a real midfield general.
It does seem harsh in many respects because he transformed Arsenal and indeed, English football. You can't stand still though and have to adapt. Arsenal play lovely football on their day and have been the best team in the premier league to watch, in my opinion, but they have a soft underbelly and don't appear to have the leaders who will turn nearly into silverware.
It seems ridiculous to fans of smaller clubs but a club of Arsenal's size and stature should be achieving more than they have and some of the blame should land at Wenger's door.
The Ranieri one is strange. Last year was a massive fluke and they're effectively landing back to where they probably should be, although they have spent enough for there to be more expectation than a relegation fight.

Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
Arsenal's size and stature is still below other clubs in the Premier League and they fell behind even further on the pitch with the costs involved with the stadium move. Maybe what they achieve for their size is par for the course.DCWat wrote:It seems ridiculous to fans of smaller clubs but a club of Arsenal's size and stature should be achieving more than they have and some of the blame should land at Wenger's door.

There are only a handful of clubs bigger in both size and stature than Arsenal isn't there?ClaretTony wrote:Arsenal's size and stature is still below other clubs in the Premier League and they fell behind even further on the pitch with the costs involved with the stadium move. Man Utd, City, Chelsea and Liverpool?
Spurs are gaining ground on them though, but they can't point to a recent trophy haul like Arsenal can.

Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
Apart from Leicester, only Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs have won the Premier League since Arsenal and all three are bigger financially.

Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
So I was right then, there are only a handful of clubs are what you could call bigger in stature then Arsenal and I'd say it's a close run thing for City.
Chelsea & Utd definitely so, but City not so certain.

Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
They aren't as good as Chelsea or Man Utd, probably on par with Man City, but certainly above Liverpool and Spurs in the greater scheme of things.
They probably should have won the league within the last 10 years, and should have done better in Europe, but overall their standing as the 2nd - 4th best team in the country and regular domestic cup finalists is where they should be. And that is where they are.
Also, the Invincible team was the best football team I've ever seen, Denis Bergkamp is the best player ever in the Premier League and Marc Overmars has a cool as **** name.

Close run thing with City? They are bigger than the others put together with their finance, it's a bottomless pit. City have used that financial muscle several times to get players from Arsenal.Sidney1st wrote:So I was right then, there are only a handful of clubs are what you could call bigger in stature then Arsenal and I'd say it's a close run thing for City.

You're going on about financial stature, I'm on about overall stature in the game etc.ClaretTony wrote:Close run thing with City? They are bigger than the others put together with their finance, it's a bottomless pit. City have used that financial muscle several times to get players from Arsenal.
I think Arsenal's overall stature in the game is bigger then that of City's who're chucking money around in their climb to the top.

But stature in the game doesn't win trophies, generally. Just ask a Leeds United fan (!)

Financial stature is what matters and Arsenal are way behind the top three clubs in that respect.Sidney1st wrote:You're going on about financial stature, I'm on about overall stature in the game etc.

Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
Whatever is the incarnation of 'the beautiful game' then I think Arsenal at their best is the closest we've seen in England. Everything geared towards the three basic skills of control, pass and move. A delight to watch from a neutral point of view but 'physicality' and'work rate' have held Arsenal back through a long season from doing what they do best and so 'saving it up for cups' is seemingly more fitting now for them. I expect them to win the FA Cup this season.

That's not worth what it's written on if they've got Man City below them.Tall Paul wrote:Arsenal are the second richest club in England
Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
I expect them to be knocked out by us as we come back from 2-1 down to score twice in added time from a spot kick given for a foul which on review was outside the box and a hand ball goal which is given with the last "kick" of the game.Silkyskills1 wrote:Whatever is the incarnation of 'the beautiful game' then I think Arsenal at their best is the closest we've seen in England. I would think international business magazine, Forbes have a bit more insight into the finances of Premier League football clubs than the bloke who runs a Burnley fans forum on the internet.ClaretTony wrote:That's not worth what it's written on if they've got Man City below them.

And yet they place Arsenal higher than Man City. Arsenal can't compete with City financially.Tall Paul wrote:I would think international business magazine, Forbes have a bit more insight into the finances of Premier League football clubs than the bloke who runs a Burnley fans forum on the internet.

Wouldn't have thought many clubs anywhere are able to compete with City financially. Not too sure I would like to support a club like that.ClaretTony wrote:And yet they place Arsenal higher than Man City. Arsenal can't compete with City financially.

Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
I know a couple of City fans and they love it - but they did spend years watching their team knowing they couldn't compete with the neighbours.Silkyskills1 wrote:Wouldn't have thought many clubs anywhere are able to compete with City financially. Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
Arsenal have consistently had a higher turnover than Chelsea and only in the past few years (rather than the 13 years since they last won a title) have City been turning over more. That fancy stadium of theirs earns them a lot of money (the most in the world).ClaretTony wrote:Apart from Leicester, only Chelsea and the two Manchester clubs have won the Premier League since Arsenal and all three are bigger financially.

But Chelsea & City have benefactors of the level that Arsenal can't compete with.aggi wrote:Arsenal have consistently had a higher turnover than Chelsea and only in the past few years (rather than the 13 years since they last won a title) have City been turning over more. Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
City only recently though, not the past thirteen years.
Re: ARTICLE: Wenger and Ranieri under pressure
And yet City's wage bill is only marginally higher than Arsenal's.
