the only bit worth reading is about his time here surely. I wouldn't be captivated by his cigar burning episodes at city, or when he sawed a circular hole in a wooden ceiling and the entire opposition team fell through .

My discerning brother in law says it is really good and a way better read than many other footballer autobiographies

Thanks for the tip. I downloaded it last night. Tough first couple of 'life chapters'.

Its a very good read. Gives you a good background of the struggle that Joe has had in his life, an understanding of some of his past actions and his fierce will to succeed on the football field and more importantly in life in general.
He could make a successful manager if he so chooses - maybe with us.

Sure is.Philip joined me at the Emirates the other week. He certainly gets through a good number of books and highly recommended Barton's book. He (my brother in law) may be the season ticket holder that lives the furthest from the Turf

Calling Iain Dowie - Boxing Glove Head was brilliant.

He's become a hero of mine, along with Mac and the great Frank Worthington, who can sometimes be seen at Tod. Baths and Sports Centre. When he walks in you know you're in the presence of a mighty one. Not many like this around these days but I think Sir Joey is becoming the real deal.

It's a very interesting read and he doesn't hold back when discussing his more infamous incidents. He has a lot of very good things to say about SD as well. One of the better footballers autobiographies I've read and I'd highly recommend it.

The thing is he's going to have to produce a second edition to cover his escapades and achievements since the original book was published.

It's a decent read, doesn't hold back and gives a very honest no holds barred account. He doesn't apologise for himself and though there's a tad too much navel gazing and self analysis it holds up extremely well with sporting biogs.
