Stephen Ward
First class performance from our uncompromising left back today. Up and down the pitch, headers, last ditch tackles and calm link play. A performance to remember from Wardy!
Outstanding.

Great performance
Re: Stephen Ward
Fantastic defensive performance from the back 4. Both full-backs played well, Mee a couple of slips but covered himself well as did the full-backs. Keane excellent. Wow. I'm going to have a shower

We've got best players in positions that I've ever seen at Burnley all over the pitch: Wardy is one of them.

Re: Stephen Ward
Ward was super today, I'd edge Lowton as performing slightly better but both full backs are just getting better.

Re: Stephen Ward
yet again we see how good a manager Dyche is. Signs an under performing player and turns him into gold for us
Re: Stephen Ward
He wasn't underperforming when Dyche signed him. He was coming off a season where he impressed at Brighton on loan from Wolves and we pinched him after they thought they had the deal tied up.Vegas Claret wrote:yet again we see how good a manager Dyche is. Re: Stephen Ward
so a loan deal from Wolves to Brighton isn't classed at under performing then when you see his performances this year in the Premier League................ok then

Glad that someone has given Ward this thread because every week he's an 7-8/10. Loves a tackle, gets up the line well and definitely 100% committed. Mr consistent

Re: Stephen Ward
His composure and steadiness remind me of Keith Newton
He is very calm and has a footballing brain and seems to be really enjoying his football. Incredible he has only been starting since January 2016. One of my favourite players now

Amazing really. Most were underwhelmed when we signed him. And couldnt understand why we needed him.
Our results since he came in are exactly why! He is pure class.

Re: Stephen Ward
Funny in a way as this is getting some air time on a couple of Irish sites now .
I would say with a few Irish players we will see more interest going forward from us all over in Ireland .

The whole squad are dragging each other forward. Improvements in all areas, individually and departmental are staggering. Players all through the side who many of us wanted replacing are now guaranteed a place.

Re: Stephen Ward
I think I saw Roy Keane at the match on Sunday. I guess he was in a watching brief for the RoI. I think he'd have been very impressed by our Left Back. Brady's free kick would have pleased him too, I guess. Shame Hendrick wasn't playing. The improvement he has made in a short time at Burnley is remarkable.

His namesake also qualifies for the Irish and played for their youth side. I wouldnt be surprised if he tried tapping him up!Lord Beamish wrote:I think I saw Roy Keane at the match on Sunday. He left the minute Brady was subbed. Strange given Ward was still playing.Lord Beamish wrote:I think I saw Roy Keane at the match on Sunday. I guess he was in a watching brief for the RoI. Re: Stephen Ward
Perhaps they should rename Ward 21 at Burnley General, Stephen Ward. Keep away from Stephen Ward, you don't want to go there.

Re: Stephen Ward
I recall the stat that close to a year went by without us losing a league game that Ward played any part in.
I think it was from the Arsenal / Everton defeats 2 years ago, until well into last season if I'm not mistaken. I thought it was folly when he was left out for Mee at left back simply because of that stat.
A bit like Barton's record with us, stats don't lie, they just sometimes get misinterpreted. For me Ward and Barton are crucial (though obviously could be improved upon as anyone could).

Re: Stephen Ward
Love him. Tempted to go to the signing at the Clarets Store on Thursday just because Wardy's there.
Re: Stephen Ward
Haha I've thought this for ages. I think it when he fixes his fringe he uses the exact same technique as hitler (this doesn't sound like much but if you've ever seen Hitler do this you'll know exactly what im talking about)HollandsPies wrote:Agree with all the sentiments above, but is it me or does he look like Hitler?
