Can't remember the goalkeeper's name but he'd played against us for Great Harwood a few months earlier in a pre-season friendly. Barry Powell scored twice in each of those games. That was his total of goals for Burnley, all against the same goalkeeper.Silkyskills1 wrote:Occasionally we used to take our two children out for tea on a Friday as a treat for them working hard at school. We went to the same small cafe in Helmshore and one time our son was wearing his Burnley shirt. The owner of the cafe noticed this and told us that tomorrow(the following day) his son would be playing against us in the FA Cup for Penrith. Can't remember his name but he did tell us he was the goalkeeper. Just kept quiet the next time we went in.

Shrewsbury Away 2nd round replay 1992 (ish)
John Bond hiding in the stands. We had a player sent off, then we saved a penalty and then John Pender scored a winner right at the end. Utter pandemonium in the away end. It gave us Sheff Utd away in the next round (and that was a hell of a game as well).
One of my fondest away game memories.

This is the game I would go for as well, South West. Irvine scored in the first minute and then, as you say, got a hat-trick.Wonderful game and from memory it was John Angus, one of my all time favourites who headed a Gilzean shot back onto the edge of the 'D' and and I can still see Gilzean lashing it in.South West Claret. wrote:Spurs 4 Burnley 3. Burnley 2-0 up in the first 4 minutes 2 for Willie Irvine, Spurs got 2 goals back but Willie completed his hat-trick 2-3.
They equalised and then Gilzean I think got the winner, end to end stuff all the way and probably the best game I've ever seen.

The first time I saw us win away was at Nuneaton Borough in about 1985. I remember a massive slag heap behind the ground at one end. We won 3-2 I think. They had a winger called Eddie Mcgoldrick who had a great game and went on to play for Palace. Remember going mad as we snatched a late winner in a proper cowshed of a terrace.

May 2017 Wembley. Great game. Great victory. UTC.
All the others I remember we lost: Chelsea 1970, Hillsborough 1974 stand out and quarter final at Watford.
FA Cup memories come from the number of games won before the last one that ends the run.
Burnley v Spurs was the first game I recall watching on (black and white) TV.
