I think that you've posted on the wrong thread Tom. How do I know this?TomBenderson wrote:I think we'll win on Saturday.
That's because we're a Premier League club. How do I know this? Because we've got lots of Premier League style fans on here humourlessly giving it large about what a big club we are and how some other club is a poxy pile of ****. I'd have thought after everything we went through to get here, we'd have had more about us - but apparently not.
Well it's because you humourlessly haven't posted anything relevant to what has been posted on this thread.

I am sure our side will not under estimate Lincoln. Personally I believe they will be tough opponents and we should not be daft enough to make derogatory remarks about their players.A bit of respect on both sides wouldn't go amiss. Lets hope quality and commitment win the day.

Re: Matt Rhead
I think the vast majority of Burnley fans wish Lincoln City every success after saturday. However the attitude of a minority of their fans has wound a few people up. Saying how disappointed they were in drawing us and then virtually demanding that they get a ridiculous number of tickets is not the way to make friends and influence people. Their Managing Director was only in the paper the other day saying he was still trying to get more tickets!

Just been on their forum.
If they could have a moan about anything to do with our club, they have.
It almost like they expect us to bend over backwards for all their demands, as its "their big day"

They seem to think we haven't played a team like them but you could just as easily say its them who haven't played a team like us yet and at the Turf it could get messy if we get an early goal.

They keep going on about thier old fashioned striker, wait till thier center halfs have to deal with Ash and Gray. Its not been that long since Gray was playing at that level and Ash will be a nightmare.
I think they need to worry to be honest.

Re: Matt Rhead
By the sound of it, that Matt Rhead must be a good player. The impression I get from their message board is that he's similar to Costa. If I didn't have a tiny idea that they're looking a little bit with red-and-white striped eyes, I'd be a bit worried ...
And then I realise that we handled Costa all right, so unless he's better than Costa, we should be OK. Phew.

Re: Matt Rhead
I think it'll be a competitive game. You guys are flying in the league and with the Ipswich and Brighton results in the bag you can come here with no fear and play your game.lincoln imp wrote:Hi guy's just a word on Matt Read, when you see him on the pitch some of you,if not most of you will laugh he doesn't look like a typical footballer,I would describe him as a throwback from the 60s and us Imps love him.i don't think for one minute Sean Dyche will under estimate us unlike McCarthy and Houlton did, they didn't even bother watching the Imps and they got what they deserved . Good luck Saturday guys.
This is the game I wanted for selfish reasons though. I'm a Lincoln University graduate and spent a decent amount of time down Sincil Bank (I lived on Sausthorpe Street so it was hard not too!) and I consider Lincoln my "second team". I remember going to Cardiff to watch you against Bournemouth in the play-offs and I really enjoyed the Keith Alexander era. I was genuinely saddened when you fell out of the league and regardless of what happens this Saturday I want to see you succeed in your primary aim; promotion.
From a Burnley perspective I want Dyche to play a strong team. It's a chance to reach the last 8 and they don't come along very often. If we're professional in our approach I think we'll win at a canter but if we underestimate you we're in trouble.
Enjoy the day and all the best.
PS - is The Portland still open near the ground, used to love that boozer!!

Two big things in our favour. Brady will probably play the entire game, unless we're cruising, and they transferred out their truly best player at the deadline. Rhead is really just a side-show for them. Their real danger is their quickness.

Sadly whenever I look at the Lincoln threads' all I see is arrogance of the type we used to mock others for coming from Burnley fans who seem to have forgot where we have come from. We are Premier League and we should be too good it doesn't mean we will be though. Bit of humility wouldn't go amiss, may the best team win hopefully that will be Burnley. Sadly with the way some of the fans are going on it is building up to be an upset hope I'm wrong though.

But really. They're equating Rhead with Costa? That is serious dellusionment (or excessive drug use).

No they haven't mentioned Costa some of our fans did they just said he will be a difficult opponent unlike any our CBs will have faced. Whilst I see the rubbish in what they have said I can see him giving us a hard time.

Re: Matt Rhead
They haven't mentioned Costa, it's just that the way they're banging on about him and his various 'moves', you'd think he was a Costa-equivalent. I mentioned Costa because I reckon that having coped with Costa last week, we have a more than sporting chance of coping with Rhead.ontario claret wrote:But really. They're equating Rhead with Costa? Completely incorrect, just because he has the size to dominate a challenge for a header does not make him a thug at all. He has skill on the ball, if anyone was a thug that game it was Barton.Grumps wrote:Never a footballer, but as a thug did his job, shame Barton and others were dragged down to his level

Re: Matt Rhead
In terms of Rhead also, he isn't a disgrace at all. He is Lincoln's fat version of Ashley Barnes.
Niggly, all elbows, does his best with what ability he has. He also executed his primary aim today, which wasn't a goal - winding Joey Barton up. He is the first player to get under Barton's skin in his entire time at Burnley, for that alone he deserves credit.

Could be the first non league team since Blackburn Olympic in 1883 (although Blackburn Rovers 4 times, Villa & WBA all won after Olympic but before The Football League was established - they were proper professional clubs) to win the cup.

He tries that kind of stuff against the likes of Chelsea and Man United, he won't last till half time.
But that doesn't take anything away from your performance. Perfectly executed game plan from you lot.
