Whilst we didn't play well we certainly had more chances/efforts than they did. Can't recall another effort on goal from them!

**** me there's some over-reactions on here. I thought the young lad sat next to me today was bad enough, but think we've discovered the next level. Some select comments included:
On Lincoln - "Who are their players?! They're not even on FIFA!"
On JBG getting injured - "Whys he bringing Boyd on?"

Constantly moaning for the whole game, to the point on not paying attention, and to top it off, full blown fit when final whistle went - chucked his bottle on the pitch, booted the seat in front of him and started crying.

And yet some on here have managed to go beyond that today.

We played like shite and got beat. But if that's the worst performance we put in this season, its cost is exactly 0 points or position in the Premier League, so other than getting knocked out in a different round to Chelsea or Utd, it's not the end of the world is it?

True. But at the end of the day the only stat that counts is the scoreline it was no surprise really that didn't create very much given the so called gulf between the clubs.

This is currently the best period we have gone through in maybe 50 yrs of being a claret, today was probably more frustration more than anything the game was constantly stop start and the Lincoln lads give it there all,it was just there day they deserved it.What I don't agree with is the slagging off of all the players, the majority struggled but it was just there day.To constantly praise the players for what we have done this season and then just turn like that is disgusting,it's like people where waiting for it too happen.I am sorry to say this but there was a bloke in the jm upper sat behind us today and from the first minute as soon as arfield misplaced a pass he was constantly at him 'f***king sell him dyche',get him off etc.The lads been the best free transfer we have ever had its out of order.I am sorry to say this but I regret not smacking him right in the gob it was constant and he was so bad for the full 90 mins

Listen we was awful,Lincoln where aggressive and well up for this but so was we.the game did not go 2mins without a stoppage and it was constant stop start, but they deserved it in the end.To make out all this badness of our players is out of order especially how well we have performed this year.People crave on a moment like this to slag everyone they don't like In a claret shirt off!Put it behind us and move on

At the start of the season if someone offered us 12th in the PL and 10 points clear of relegation at this stage but we'll have an embarrassing cup exit to Lincoln each one of us would have snapped their hand off.

We've turned over many teams in the last few years that we had no right to do so. Today it was someone else's turn to do it against us. I think some fans on here find it incredibly difficult to be humble in defeat.

And to say that Arfield should never wear the shirt again is ridiculous. We wouldn't be 10 points clear of relegation without him. A bit of perspective.

The problem was we looked no better than Lincoln, and that corner was an organisational disaster, opponents will look at that and realise just how vulnerable we can be.

Apart from missing open goal , don't understand why posters try to make excuses for an absolute shambles from the manager down to the players , total embarrassment sums it up , thankfully players don't give a damn these days so they will have forgotten about it by the next game .

And if we stop up should we still consider it an embarrassment at the end of the season?

We will find out against Hull how much Psychological damage this result as done to the team if we throw another one in it could be detrimental.
It really hurt that loss and was like the pain we had to suffer at games in the 80s and 90s when we barely had a team to put out
Its going to take a bit of lifting this week to prepare and get three points from Hull with Grosicki and co waiting in the wings
Time will tell on how much this defeat is going to be

There will be one more team that play like that against us at home this season - WBA. We ought to be ready for them this time !

I haven't read the whole thread but what is a TOTAL EMBARRASMENT is the drama queenery which seems to turn some of our fans into gibbering cry babies.
We had a bad day but that is remarkably rare these days for a small team in one of the biggest leagues in the world.
Lincoln had a good day, give them credit for goodness sake.
Next week's game is far more important.
To be able to watch our brilliant team match Chelsea and then be totally embarrassed because Lincoln beat us is the behaviour of Leicester fans, Arsenal fans, Boro fans maybe. But not Burnley fans.
Grow up.

The only thing embarrassing is the usual suspects who hide under a rock when we are winning and drawing against the best team in the Premier League, but can't wait for us to lose,so they can slag off all the players who have got us to 12th in the league.Get a grip and grow a pair it's not the end of the world.

Yesterday's result was a total embarrassment. We lost to a non league side in the last 16 of the FA Cup. The worst result by any team in 103 years, the records state that.
Accepting it means it OK to happen again. A few fans may forget about it quite soon but the TV and newspapers will remind everyone else in the football world every year for the next 20 years or so.
When the current manager and players have long gone the fans will still be reminded of the upset long into the future.
The reason we lost is because the manager and players have the same attitude as the fans who aren't embarrassed.

It was embarrassing, and it hurts.

But a win, or even a draw, at Hull, and it's forgiven and forgotten, for me.

If you're so embarrassed by one shock defeat and a poor performance, imagine how you'd feel if you were a Leicester fan.
Their Premier League title is fast becoming the biggest joke of the century.

Wow! I wouldn't want you next to me in the trenches, that's for sure. "Accepting it means it's OK to happen again", what a load of bollocxs. It was a bad day and we all have them except you it seems. Supposing you do have a bad day, do you fret about it for the next 20 years? Do you say it's all right to happen again? You might, but normal, well adjusted, people say it was a bad day because of a,b and c so the next time I'll try to do d,e and f.

Your last sentence just about sums up your OTT drama queenery. If SD and the boys didn't care about losing, why do we hold our own against, and sometimes beat, better teams by working harder and running further than them? If they didn't care, the stats would show it and they don't. Also, they don't want to drop back into the snake-pit that is the Championship. So, if we manage to stay up this season are you going to give those that 'don't care' an apology or will you return from whence you came until we start losing again. We are all bitterly disappointed but you seem to have bunched your panties up and them crammed them up your hole. It's a game of football, nothing more and nothing less. If these shocks didn't happen in the FA cup, there would be no point in the non league teams playing. Chill out, grow a pair and move on.

We were crap, but take nothing away from Lincoln - the were magnificant. This is there day and as someone said we have to take it on the chin.

Next Saturday is now or biggest game of the season, which we must not lose.

By the way was Westwood playing today?

Unless you're totally insulated from the rest of the world this result was an embarrassment. Some of the players ought to be ashamed. Having said that picking players who have a game only every blue moon doesn't help. The team looked disjointed and they were smart enough to pick out our weaknesses. Two other points. Andre Gray. Is miss little mix taking too much out of him? Defending corners. We dont seem to learn

This thread is causing more embarrasment than the actual game.
Yes we're all p155ed off with our no show, but the last few years have been superb.
I think it was to much to dream of winning the FA cup, surviving in the premier league and watching Rovers get relegated.
I will take two out of three for an absolutely brilliant season. :D

Nobody's saying we aren't having a great season, but people are rightly judging yesterday's lack of performance and disappointment on it's own merits.

In the true style of Winston Churchill quote "tomorrow I will be sober but you will still be ugly"

Tomorrow we will still be in the Premier League and Lincoln will be in the Vanarama Sunday pub league getting 3,000 fans a week and paying big fat bald centre forwards £500 a week.

Yesterday was disappointing....very disappointing - but lets have a bit of perspective. Since 1987 when Lincoln went down look whats happened to both clubs. Lincoln have had a special day yesterday - Burnley have had a pretty good 20 or 30 years and a very special last 7 or 8 years.

However "remarkable" all the media is saying yesterdays result was - it really isn`t that surprising. What Burnley have done is a hundred times more remarkable than Lincoln beating a second string of a team (that has a bad off day) with their only shot on goal.

And if we stay up, especially in mid table, we will still be reminded of one of the greatest achievements in modern football - which this season will be if we carry on going as we are!

There is a reason why many pundits are suggesting Dyche should be nominated for manager of the year.

And just to ask. What was the aim for us at the start of the season?

Stupid comment.

Of course all our fans were upset to lose yesterday - however many fans have a bit of perspective and in the same way we do not think that we will be conquering Europe after drawing with Chelsea we also do not think that our second string team losing one game to Lincoln means they should all face the firing squad.

An embarrassment, not really. A disappointment, yes. I was on yesterday and thought we should have played our strongest team from the start. I hate to say it but players like Arfield, Boyd, Flanagan simply aren't up to it.

When we stay up this will pale into insignificance. Yes I'm p'd off but ask any set of fans outside of the PL what they would prefer, lose to non league and another year in the PL or progress in the FA Cup, Some perspective needed methinks.

As for questioning this Manager and Squads attitude? Get a grip, some of the finest drama queenery ever posted on here, never mind in the past 24 hours.

Survival or a cup win against non-league opposition?
it's not a trade off, we should be aiming at success at both.
I don't get this "it'll be allright, and quickly forgotten, if we stay up" as though losing this game will be somehow beneficial to our chances of survival.

There is a reason why many pundits are suggesting Dyche should be nominated for manager of the year.

And just to ask. What was the aim for us at the start of the season?
I get the bit about it being a great achievement, but one of the greatest in modern football?

We have signed 3 midfielders for about £30m since promotion, we have a defender worth about the same and a keeper in the England squad. Whereas the likes of Sunderland would love to spend what we have on players. I know we have wage limits, but if our players are better than theirs the wages don't matter. It will be a very good achievement, and I'd take it over winning a single cup game, but yesterday tarnishes it badly.

I'll love it if we stay up because we will have done something special, but hardly unprecedented, unlike the defeat yesterday, which was unprecedented (apart from by ourselves). I don't think Dyche quite realises how much his name will be written into history in the wrong way, to add to his successes with us - we've been talking about that Wimbledon result for 40 years and it will be likewise with this one. The galling thing is that it would have been probably avoided if we hadn't rested players despite 13 days between league games. Come Hull though, it'll be time to move on.

The defender you refer to cost us next to nothing. The keeper did cost us nothing.

Thanks to Dyche they are England regulars. Thats not coincidence.

That 30m was generated largely by Dyche with his two promotions.

Exactly couldn't agree more. There are 2 separate things the league & the cup. Doesn't diminish the disappointment losing in the cup because we are sitting reasonably ok in the league if anything the cushion we already have we could have gone more gung ho to try to get a quarter tie. The 2 things are separate entities.

Embarrassing yes it was.
No fan or team wants to be headline news for the wrong reasons.
Total embarrassment is, I would suggest, a tad over the top but maybe understandable
given most fans went to the game fully expecting a win and progress through to the quarter finals.

I wasn't at the game so I may not be qualified to say but as far I recollect
we had 60% of the play, 16 or 17 attempts with 5/6 on target whereas Lincoln had 5 with 2 on target.
It's not as if they played us off the park given those stats.

Clearly we didn't play well at all but we could have won and probably should have.
They came with a game plan and it payed off.

Good luck to them in the next round and hope they get a decent pay day.
