Re: Dyche
So he couldn't make us a top 6 club?
3 of those you've named have spent a lot of time dicking around the arse end of the PL or visiting the championship.
Everton have had some fantastic players and still couldn't do what Leicester did.
Saints - primarily a selling club it would appear.

Re: Dyche
no, disagree, he is and will be much sought after. Do you think it will have gone unnoticed that he's taken us up twice and done so on very meagre resources ?Nonayforever wrote:Dyche is brilliant for Burnley, a perfect fit at this moment in time. I'm glad we have him & hope we keep him.
But this is his peak.
He will only go to a bigger club in the championship trying to achieve promotion.
Looks likely to keep us up this time.
Owners know full well that given financial backing, dyche will work his magic at bigger clubs. Fans on here regularly slag off our own players, gray, vokes, barnes, boyd, arfield etc, if this criticism is justified, then how come sean dyche has managed to get these duds into squad that has us in such a great position in what many say is the best division in world football.

Re: Dyche
I'm trying to remember any manager getting a job for a top 10 side (when manager appointed) who was appointed for just keeping a side up?
It's not easy to get good jobs in the premier league.

Re: Dyche
I might be biased, but i think dyche is better than most. I am not dismissing the achievements of wenger and Mourhino and others, but come on ! literally millions pumped into their coffers every year. I could see Dyche at everton or liverpool for that matter.

Re: Dyche
The perfect job for Dyche's is Villa. It'll be interesting to see how it goes for Bruce from now on. It's looking highly unlikely they're going to reach the play-offs this time, and depending on the new owners' and the fans' patience (and Bruce's staying-power - wouldn' t surprise me for one if he quit) there could be a vacancy there (again) sooner rather than later. Massive potential, huge fanbase and everything in place. Just need a new set of players (loads of money available) and a manager with a track record of getting out of the minefield that is the Championship.
Oh, and it's only an hour to Kettering.

could be morgan, would leave us in the doldrums for years again i fear, i honestly cannot think of anyone that would come to us and improve things.
yes, sparkling new gawthorpe, few quid left in the pot, but its going to be a very very hard act to follow. i dread the day dawning.

You obviously didn't read what I put.
He could manage at the very top table. And will.
If every team in this league needed a new manager in May, from Everton down theyd be looking at Dyche.
Too left field and unproven currently for Arsenal city united or Chelsea. Wouldnt be totally unrealistic for Liverpool to fancy him

Re: Dyche
Another view. It would not be far wrong to suggest that the gaffer is amongst lets say, the top 10 most sussessful people in the UK in terms of money gained for a sport business or possibly any other type of business in the U.K.
He's earned us millions upon millions with two promotions, built us a team that the vast majority are proud of and looking like, now we have no other distractions, will stay up - he's built a lagacy.
And some are giving him grief !!
I'll say it again IF he really wanted to win on Saturday then he would have played the team that drew against Chelsea. I would guarantee he's more gutted about losing JBG than getting beat against Lincoln.
Be careful what you wish for - ask Wigan, Portsmouth and Leicester.

Re: Dyche
Very well said. Although i do think he intended to win.

I think most would take a cup, particularly a prem league championship, and relegation. You can always come back from it.Cooperclaret wrote:Another view. It must get to you the fact you'll never ever win anything..

Re: Dyche
I'm sure he intended to win but not at the expense of staying up. If we have lost JBG for the season now then that has weakened us for the run in. I would much prefer to have JBG than a trip to Arsenal.
Let's let Boro win the cup now and go down !

A trip to Arsenal would of paid JBGs wages for a year. Lets hope the chairman is in a good mood this week.Cooperclaret wrote:I'm sure he intended to win but not at the expense of staying up. Dyche has to show he can think outside the box and play outside the framework, but his method works for us.

Or are you ignoring it to suit your agenda?
He lost an effing cup game and now you're banging the thinking outside the box drum again...

Re: Dyche
In terms of his next club, which i fear may happen next year, i think Villa is a risk. He would 100% take them out of the championship and he'd have a decent budget. If he had good success and consolidated them mid table it may raise his stock with the top 5/6 clubs, who realistically wouldn't take a risk on him yet. Could see koeman leaving Everton, but think their fans would demand a bigger name foreign manager.
He will go at some stage and I just hope we have some decent succession planning in place.
Whatever happens he's been absolutely phenomenal for us.

Re: Dyche
If he keeps us up this season and we're hovering close to mid table, then I think it'll be a job well done for both the club and himself. He'll leave us with a lot more money and a lot more pulling power for a new manager.
Perhaps it's the board we need to be more worried about losing, not the manager. The board are the people who appointed him afterall and seem to know what they're doing with regards to finances and the training ground et al. We should be confident that they know what they're doing and when Dyche does leave, we'll be in a good position to bring someone else in who can take the baton from Dyche and take us even further up the table.

Re: Dyche
Why are we obsessed with the gaffer leaving ?
Do you think he will build something like has then just hand it over ???? Nah.
Michael Duff is the man in waiting and he will have a long wait !

Re: Dyche
I've been puzzled why we didn't change it at half time but thinking about it since i rhink i cam understand why he didnt.
We had started to improve, created chances and despite them working hard and fighting like demons for everything they didn't look like scoring at all . Nobody, but nobody thought Lincoln would have a sniff of goal (probably including them) and having lost JBG to injury already I suspect he might have worried that Ward would also be a target (let's be honest he's already been hit late several times this season) and having him fit is far more important than risking him.
If Arfield or Gray had taken their 2nd half chances We would have gone in front and then probably scored more as they opened up and as we got more confident .
Fair play to Lincoln as they worked their socks off to stay in the game and hope for a break but ultimately it was a 1 in 10 (or even longer odds) that they held out for a draw never mind stealing the win.

Lincoln were 4/1 to score the first goal when I checked at half time. Had I remembered my login details I'd have placed a bet.BabylonClaret wrote:I've been puzzled why we didn't change it at half time but thinking about it since i rhink i cam understand why he didnt.

Regarding half time and no changes, I'm surprised Dyche didn't bring Ward on. Him on for Flanagan seemed an obvious one to me, but maybe he also saw that, but didn't want to risk him after seeing what had happened to JBG.

Hopefully Alexander continues to progress and impress. Hopefully if we go down the ex player route it is one who has management experience and relative success too.Cooperclaret wrote:Why are we obsessed with the gaffer leaving ?

But no place for sentiment. It should be the best man for the job.

Maybe Wile E, maybe not but what I do know is that Duff is very highly rated by the gaffer and hes showing him the ropes etc.
However, let's not debate this hopefully for a few years yet

Hold Chelsea to a draw one week in the league. Lose the next week to a non-league side in the FA Cup the next. <CLICHE WARNING> Football is a funny game.
