Toon v Villa

Post by No Ney Never » Mon Feb 20, 2017 1:30 pm

Newcastle 4/6
Villa 9/2
Draw 11/4 with Paddy Power.

Got to be worth a couple of quid on the Toon at home given Villa have been so poor recently. Any thoughts?

I'd probably prefer a Newcastle loss if I'm honest.

They're insufferable on FB usually and it would be amusing to see them miss out on promotion.
Might teach them that they aren't actually a big deal like they seem to tell everyone.

The Newcastle odds shout out to me as simply not worth it.

If anything, I'd go £2 on Villa. If Rovers can do the double over Newcastle, I'm sure Villa have a chance.

Newcastle have been sh1te against Villa regularly of late - even to the extent of that French guy in a tuxedo (Thauvin) winning man of the match one time out.

That said, all 3 of the last games have ended in draws because Villa are (even more) sh1te too (but lucky).

1-1

Two poor sides who offered nothing in the Prem for several seasons. Large fan based but still little clubs file under Dirty Leeds and Derby.

Interesting in the Championship. Only two or three weeks ago it looked like a real scramble was on for 5th and 6th at least but unless something untoward happens it's all sorted now with the top two odds on for automatic and perhaps some jostling for position amongst the next four. Everybody else playing for very little.

Wouldn't rule Hudds out of automatic promotion yet.

Also Cardiff are 40/1 top six and 100/1 promotion. Might have a nibble at that!

They will need around 75 points which is 10 more wins from 13. They have only won 13 in 33. Not impossible but unlikely.

As I said all over regarding 'automatic' and just the chance of positional movement amongst the next four. The rest can just go out and 'enjoy their football'.

13 point to catch up to the top 6 with 13 left, again, difficult but not impossible. When we are more points ahead than games remain ill feel relatively safe.

I'm still hoping Huddersfield can keep Brighton out of the autos.

Yes but there's still plenty of fun to be had at the other end of the table.

Absolutely. Just two places remaining there. Rotherham are gone and have thrown in the towel. Wigan and Burton getting stronger with decent coaches. Bristol City in the slide but other than that another gap developing.

Newcastle are one team I would never bet on.

That said, they should win comfortably tonight.

Decent chance of a West Yorkshire playoff final.

Sheff Weds, Leeds and Huddersfield all in the thick of it. Huddersfield to go up automatically and Leeds to lose in the playoff final would be nice.

Actually off to watch the game on Saturday as Sheff Weds play Leeds. Going with 2 mates, one is a Wednesday fan, the other is a Leeds fan. Should be fun.

Florist could be the team to keep Wovers up. Not happy with Gary Brazil getting the job there.
Unless they both go down.

Looking like a profitable evening so far. Been flicking between this and the Sutton game, and I agree Electro, Villa are poor.

Newcastle strolling and they've been poor. Lansbury at it again in the first half and should have seen red. Prutton, who I think gets paid by the word, defended him saying Lansbury kept his eyes on the ball. And we wonder why this sort of thing goes on constantly without being punished.

According to someone else on this forum Westwood is so crap that he should be put down and Villa won't be missing him at all.

I reckon I've seen around 5 Brighton games, 5 Newcastle games and 4 Huddersfield games so far this season, there's one stand out side and that's been Huddersfield

Think Brighton have the better players and will finish top but Newcastle will join them. A weaker Championship I haven't witnessed for a while especially from mid table downwards.

Think Rotherham needed to beat Blackburn a couple of weeks ago in order to give them a ' lift' for the remainder of the season. When they couldn't manage that the 'towel was thrown in'.
