Snap! about the same time for me too,

With the orchestra I assume as they did in the early 70s.. before they stopped touring with a 40 piece as it was too expensive unfortunately.

Poor Man's Moody Blues, but at their best an inventive group lacking a great lead singer.

Got to disagree there 'nights in white satin ' i like and remember well but maybe its the passing of time cant remember much else....loved the album cover of bjh from 1977 plus the album itself lots of good tracks on there...bought the yes album and crime of the century ,supertramp album at roughly the same time, three fantastic albums....happy days!

Split into two groups now, I assume you will be seeing the John Lees one?

Never going to see the original group play live again with the deaths of Mel Pritchard and Wooly unfortunately, thankfully we have video/dvds.

I always thought they were something different - a rock band with orchestra. They excepted they owed a lot to The Beatles and The Moody Blues. I preferred BJH.

From what I've heard these days it is Les Holroyd who is playing nearer to their halcyon days:

Always had a soft spot for BJH, although I felt some of there stuff was very dark and at times it certainly left me flat. After the Flood, Suicide etc. I also saw that tour with orchestra at Manchester. Forgot where but didn't think it was Free Trade Hall. Mocking Bird was certainly memorable from that gig.

I objected to their more poppy numbers and simplistic lyrics. When they got it right though:

I think it is Town and Country Club, 1992.
I saw them at Manchester Appollo in early 80's. missed last bus home, but worth it.

I had the video of the 1992 Town & Country concert, the full 90 minutes with sixteen songs. There is a DVD of part of the concert only. Unfortunately it is missing the classic live version of John Lennon's Guitar:

Yes I've got the video, I think they also showed some of the concert on TV but can't remember the show title.

Must have been same gig I went to at the Apollo. First night of the tour I recall and issues with the stage set meant we were kept waiting outside. I missed the end of the gig and did get the last bus home!

Now you mention it, I do seem to recall it was delayed starting. Before the show I remember panicking thinking this is not going to end well!
