Re: O/T Barclay James Harvest.
Snap! about the same time for me too,
With the orchestra I assume as they did in the early 70s.. before they stopped touring with a 40 piece as it was too expensive unfortunately.

Poor Man's Moody Blues, but at their best an inventive group lacking a great lead singer.

Never going to see the original group play live again with the deaths of Mel Pritchard and Wooly unfortunately, thankfully we have video/dvds.

Re: O/T Barclay James Harvest.
I always thought they were something different - a rock band with orchestra. They excepted they owed a lot to The Beatles and The Moody Blues. I preferred BJH.
From what I've heard these days it is Les Holroyd who is playing nearer to their halcyon days:

Re: O/T Barclay James Harvest.
Always had a soft spot for BJH, although I felt some of there stuff was very dark and at times it certainly left me flat. After the Flood, Suicide etc. I also saw that tour with orchestra at Manchester. Forgot where but didn't think it was Free Trade Hall. Mocking Bird was certainly memorable from that gig.

Re: O/T Barclay James Harvest.
I objected to their more poppy numbers and simplistic lyrics. When they got it right though:

Absolutely Cabbage, if that's the Country Club Recording I was there.
Re: O/T Barclay James Harvest.
I think it is Town and Country Club, 1992.
I saw them at Manchester Appollo in early 80's. missed last bus home, but worth it.

Re: O/T Barclay James Harvest.
I had the video of the 1992 Town & Country concert, the full 90 minutes with sixteen songs. There is a DVD of part of the concert only. Unfortunately it is missing the classic live version of John Lennon's Guitar:

Yes I've got the video, I think they also showed some of the concert on TV but can't remember the show title.

Re: O/T Barclay James Harvest.
Must have been same gig I went to at the Apollo. First night of the tour I recall and issues with the stage set meant we were kept waiting outside. I missed the end of the gig and did get the last bus home!Cabbage wrote:I think it is Town and Country Club, 1992.

Re: O/T Barclay James Harvest.
Now you mention it, I do seem to recall it was delayed starting. Before the show I remember panicking thinking this is not going to end well!
