Keane v Maguire

Post by Diesel » Sat Feb 25, 2017 7:36 pm

Two very good, young, English centre halves slugging it out today in a massive Premier League fixture.

This time next year will they both be sat on a ' bigger' teams subs. bench?

Maguire only had one good leg. All credit to him.

Obviously bias but England could do a lot worse than Keane and Mee as center halves but this Maguire kid look decent.

Never liked Maguire, except for his commitment, but deservedly won their MOM and looked some player.

Thought Maguire looked solid. Big lad, got Ruddock potential.

Agree. Maguire was MOM for me with Keane a very close second.

Showed huge courage to stay on after his knee injury.

He also has the skill to drive forward and create dangerous attacks. Everytime I've seen him over the past few years he's been top notch.

Have to say I wasn't that impressed with Maguire defensively but I hadn't realised he'd picked up a knee injury, but his quality on the ball was certainly evident all game.

Reminds me more of Tarkowski than Keane.

Maguire is nowhere near Keane's level. Carthorse v a Rolls Royce. Big strong lad but that's about it. We should have targetted him more than we did after his injury, he struggled all afternoon.

Plays a bit like Scott Dann and looks like him too. Not overly convinced he has the pace a modern defender needs at this level.
Also looked to wind up Barnes early doors and bring to the refs attention within 3 minutes Ash's robust style when challenging for aerial balls

MK far better, and also better than fifty million John Stones.

One of BFCs best ever defenders. Worth an absolute fortune.

Actually, if he does go, the John Stones transfer fee sets a useful benchmark
for us to point to and max out the deal.

Hope he stays though.

We should try and get Maguire and Robertson. Both outstanding today. Huddlestone too was terrific
