Must be impressing Dyche in training.

Re: Agyei on the bench
Not likely. Who else could he pick to make up the numbers
Re: Agyei on the bench
I think if he was really impressing, he might have come on as sub for Gray against Lincoln.

Who would be next? Jackson? Limb ?
Re: Agyei on the bench
For the second game now we are down to just 17 fit and available senior players to pick from

Re: Agyei on the bench
Should be two back next week and another possibly the week after.mkmel wrote:For the second game now we are down to just 17 fit and available senior players to pick from
Re: Agyei on the bench
Yes Hendrick definitely back for next week and Defour hopefully but I would guess Gudmundsson will be another 2 or 3 weeks.
Re: Agyei on the bench
Pope, Hendricks, Defour, Gudmondsson, Marney, Kevin Long out. That's a 23 man squad when all available. Big enough, I think.
We can only play 14, after all. 17 available is enough.

If the quality is of the required level. It's fair to say that our bench doesn't look great today, should we need to change things.dsr wrote:Pope, Hendricks, Defour, Gudmondsson, Marney, Kevin Long out. That's a 23 man squad when all available. Big enough, I think.

Re: Agyei on the bench
Id give him last 15 mins
Re: Agyei on the bench
He'll come on and score the winner
Re: Agyei on the bench
Maybe the same next week too. Hendrick back in, Barnes out.
Agyei will certainly be on the bench as our only striker sub now

Re: Agyei on the bench
Excited by this. We didn't sign a 4th striker after Bamford so dyche clearly has faith in how he's developed and prepared to throw him on.
From what I've seen, admittedly not a great deal, he does look like a potential regular top flight striker with plenty of pace and power.

Turned his ankle over in training prior to the Lincoln game.wilks_bfc wrote:Whats wrong with Pope?

Re: Agyei on the bench
Oh come on, he didn't even get "thrown on" v Lincoln, absolutely no chance we'll see him in a PL game anytime soon. He's on the bench simply because otherwise we wouldn't have the full complement, simple maths.Walt wrote:Excited by this. I'd be very surprised if he isn't on the bench at Swansea. If there is absolutely no intention using him under any circumstances then why even name him in the 18 simply to fill your allocation of subs.
To say no chance when we are down to 2 main strikers in our next match is quite a prediction.

Dyche has already given O'Neil a chance this season, can't see why he wouldn't do the same for Agyei

I think it's quite prudent to ensure you fill your allocation of subs.Walt wrote:I'd be very surprised if he isn't on the bench at Swansea. If there is absolutely no intention using him under any circumstances then why even name him in the 18 simply to fill your allocation of subs.

I doubt when we name a reserve keeper on the bench each week there is any expectation or intention to bring them on during the game

Exactly what I was thinking.Newcastleclaret93 wrote:Dyche has already given O'Neil a chance this season, can't see why he wouldn't do the same for Agyei
At some point young players need a chance if Dyche thinks they are good enough. I accept our numbers have played a part in accelerating this for Agyei but he can't contribute any less than Bamford did.

Re: Agyei on the bench
Imagine him telling his loved one's that he's on the bench for a Premier league game & they all said yea only because everybody else is injured or suspended.
Good on him i say, congrats.

The comment was no chance we will see him play in the PL anytime soon. I very much doubt we are putting players on there simply to fluff up numbers so we have 18. Even if they are on there earlier in their development due to shortages there is a chance we'll see them used.Burnleyareback2 wrote:I think it's quite prudent to ensure you fill your allocation of subs.

I'm not in any way suggesting Agyei is suddenly the next big thing or some sort of saviour. I just find it exciting we are starting to see a couple of players progressing in our system. Let's face it we've hardly had a conveyor belt.

Re: Agyei on the bench
Agree having him around the first team (believe he travelled with squad to City away as well) can only mean Dyche rates him. Fingers crossed he makes an impact when given his chance.

Re: Agyei on the bench
Good experience to be around the first team and involved in the match day squad. All part of the long process of progression. He won't be overawed by the environment when he does eventually make the step up,allowing him to concentrate on his game.

Re: Agyei on the bench
The game against Swansea could be his debut with only 2 recongnised first team strikers.
Got to wish the lad well. He certainly seems happy with being selected in the squad on twitter.
Hope he gets a chance and makes an impact

Re: Agyei on the bench
I struggle with people's opinion and mindset when it is geared towards writing something or someone off before they've even been given a chance.
I have to conclude these types of people would take some perverse satisfaction in seeing us fail.

Re: Agyei on the bench
For a youth team player to be anywhere near the first team is a huge reward. Dyche doesn't hand these things out to anyone.

Re: Agyei on the bench
I love it when young players make the bench even if only a rare combination of injuries or scoring might see dyche risk bringing them on
Also helps us sign new ones when they see they get a chance
If we get mathematically safe no reason why they can't get gametime

Re: Agyei on the bench
I don't disagree with giving young players a chance, particularly if we're confirmed as safe. However I have read that we get more money the higher we finish, even if it's just a difference of a few places. So we'll want to finish as high as possible I'm sure. This might limit the chances a young lad like Agyei gets but it's great experience for him to be in and around it.Garnerssoap wrote:I love it when young players make the bench even if only a rare combination of injuries or scoring might see dyche risk bringing them on

It's around £2 million per place.IndigoLake wrote:However I have read that we get more money the higher we finish, even if it's just a difference of a few places.
