Amazing support!
Amazing support!
Watched the game online today and the vocal support from Burnley sounded amazing almost like a home game.
Whoever went, you should be very proud of that performance.

Agreed.
Tremendous noise from the travelling support.
Never heard Hull at all

Hull were quiet apart from the goal which was the only period we went quiet. Very loud today. A million times better than Watford.

Constantly heard the Clarets throughout the game.
On the link I watched, the coms remarked two or three times during the game how good/ vocal the visiting support was.

Re: Amazing support!
Was very loud on tv. Was so loud that I began to think the microphones were pointed towards the away support
Re: Amazing support!
Very loud yesterday. Have to wonder why we can't replicate this at home games. JHU rarely sings these days unless we're winning! Solutions anyone?

Re: Amazing support!
Some popular new chants might help - along with the return of a few forgotten oldies, perhaps.
The present repertoire isn't a patch on what we had back in the 60s and 70s, though tbf many of the tunes, widely popular back then, are unknown to newer generations.
Though the singing sections do persist with classics like 'Bertie Mee said to Bill Shankly', many individuals don't know the right words.
Bertie Bee instead of Mee - Haha!

Re: Amazing support!
In general some of us like to sit and watch a game and watch/enjoy/admire the chanting of our support, it's just a personal thing and maybe an age thing for some.

Re: Amazing support!
Having some "non-cringe" songs would help, along with fewer Blackburn related ones.
I'd much rather sing about the success of my team than the demise of others

The reason for the improvement was that you Southerners stayed at homemrhungryone wrote:Theyve obviously improved from the watford disapointment....

Everyone who wants/willing to sing get in the Cricketfield. 1,800 vocal clarets in there, will quieten any visiting support and will be heard loud and clear around the ground.Carport wrote:Very loud yesterday. There still is seats in there, but also people who don't want to sing.
Why people choose to sit in JHL block 2/3 and try and get songs going whilst getting wet through baffles me.
Move over, you will love it!

3pm Saturday kick offs with a relatively simple train journey out of Burnley always help - encourages lubrication of the larynx

Support was good, though I didn't see why it was necessary to boo Grosicki quite so much. He clearly wanted to sign for us, it wasn't his fault that he didn't.
Also he looks a good player and could have won them the game; the golden rule is don't boo players who might then go on and score against you.
We do have our fair share of muppets though.

...as do all clubs
Re: Amazing support!
Had ST in Cricketfield first season in Prem. great atmosphere but lousy view. 1800 singing out of 20000 not good enough.MACCA wrote:Everyone who wants/willing to sing get in the Cricketfield. 1,800 vocal clarets in there, will quieten any visiting support and will be heard loud and clear around the ground.

I agree. I don't mind a few Blackburn songs as every club sing so about it's local rivals, especially with our differing fortunes right now.wilks_bfc wrote:Having some "non-cringe" songs would help, along with fewer Blackburn related ones.

The likes of Oh Burnley is Wonderful is one I don't join in with as I've got well into my 30's. The young lads don't understand, but it's cras and has no thought for the families who attend. Grown men who aren't Neanderthals don't tend to want to sing about "t*ts and f***ies".
Why did we move away from singing Oh When The Clarets Go Marching In? It only changed around the early-mid 90's. More people would join in for sure...providing we don't sing at 1000mph and have to smash our hands off clapping.
Atmosphere yesterday was great though. On the stream I had on for the second half we were very impressive.

1,800 over 50 singing is reasonable though.Carport wrote:Had ST in Cricketfield first season in Prem. great atmosphere but lousy view. 1800 singing out of 20000 not good enough.
Re: Amazing support!
I too thought you were magnificent. Makes me proud to hear our fans and I always feel you deserve to be close to the goal where we score.
I should add that I think every single person who has attends a match home or away deserves recognition whether you sing or not. Times are hard and it's expensive to attend matches especially if you've got children. I don't care about the fact that the TV money representing the major part of our income - we're Burnley and we've got no guarantee at all of this current non-ticketing income lasting. So, the fans going and paying DO matter.
