Blackburn's luck continued last night with a penalty goal to win 1 nil against a struggling Derby side.

That's all 4 of their last positive results coming with more than a hint of good fortune.

They might just scrape safety now

Was at the game last with brother, in Blackburn end so close to "penalty". Looked dubious to say the least, or to quote him "he was nowhere near the ball", meaning it was a clever dive.

To be fair the B******d fans thought we were "lucky" throughout our 23 game unbeaten run last season. If their luck continues it may be down to hard work/change of attitude.

Obviously, I hope they get back to crashing and burning as soon as possible.

Just delaying the inevitable. If they don't go down this season then they will almost certainly go down next season. They have an aging team that they can't afford to replace.

I think they'll avoid the drop now, unfortunately. Bristol City, Wigan and Rotherham all look worse than they do.

The question is, do you think they'll suddenly have money to spend next season, or will they be in the same financial mess and not be able to really strengthen their side?

i feel this is the football gods having a laugh at their expense, tantalisingly close to safety, gifting them a precious 3 points, only to watch them faulter again in the next match.

All hangs on the back to back Wigan & Cardiff home games, because after that I'm sure they play 4 out of 5 away at Fulham, Brighton, Reading and Norwich, so that should be nearly nil points!

only 2 or 3 points in their next 2 home games and it will certainly be close.

Bristol C surely cant continue being so poor, they have some very winnable games coming up..

It doesn't help that Wigan threw in the towel by sacking a manager who had done well last season, and appointing a complete novice at Championship level. Appoint someone like Warnock, and they might have been out of this mess by now, otherwise - stick with Caldwell and give him time to adjust to Championship level, rather than binning him after just a few games.

The QPR home game is where it swung for me.. QPR have a goal a yard over the line not given at 0-0 then the lucky b4stards score in added time to win it. That was 3 bonus point there.

Then the 2 points they scrape at Rotherham and Burton are down to own goals...

Worth noting that Bristol City have had a tough run of fixtures - Villa found their form against them, they drew with Newcastle, lost to Fulham, lost away to a good Leeds team and drew at Derby after being 3-0 up. They beat Rotherham, and drew against Wednesday.

They look to be able to score goals, so hopefully should be able to perform v Burton, win at home against a hot and cold Norwich and get something at hapless Wigan.

I agree, even Cotterill WOULD OF added some stability to Wigan.

Bristol C have thrown away 2 goal leads at least 4 times this season, twice at home and in one even 3-0 up away at Derby.
They can score it's just they can't defend for toffee.

If they stay up they will be in the same position next season having to still pay championship wages and will probably lose another couple of thousand of the gates.
If they go down they could start winning and get momentum back in the club like Leeds,City and Southampton did?
