Barton's book,worth a read ?

Post by CHEWBACCA » Wed Mar 01, 2017 8:04 pm

Thinking of getting this as a gift for a Claret family member.
Is it a good read?
Much mention of Burnley in it?

Thanks.

Burnleys mention is brief. But does give insight into him as a person.

I bought it from Amazon a couple of weeks ago, mothers was a thread about it being 99p. Sad,y that was for the Kindle. However I brought the hardback for £6.99 from Amazon and it came autographed.

Really enjoyed it actually, gives a very different perspective to Barton. Really enjoyed it

Yes, it is a good read
Not much about Burnley but he does have some very positive things to say about SD.

Tries to over complicate things with long intellectual words you dont need to use in a sentance. Gets borning in parts

Very violent early life on estate where drugs were/are rife. Uncompromising father, who stood his ground on the estate. Then tells his learning journey and those who have helped him.

Good read.

Truly awful, verbose and self-indulgent.
I bought it to read on a recent trip to India. I put in the seat-back pocket after a couple of hours and left it there.
My apologies to the poor clean-up sod who found it and thought they'd give it a go.

Really enjoyed it to be honest. Gives an insight into a complicated personality. Last couple of chapters dragged a bit though
