FAO;- Redbeard

Post by The Enclosure » Thu Mar 02, 2017 12:02 pm

As an old sea dog of some standing Redbeard I can highly recommend to you a tv series called Black Sails ( I found it on Kodi ). I am sure that you will enjoy it.
Lots of swashbuckling, keel hauling, cat o'nine tails pirate treasure and a fair amount of rumpy pumpy of various kinds .Just up your street I reckon. :D
There are 4 series each with about a dozen or so episodes. I would be interested to know what you think about it.

I've been watching it on Amazon, I'm only about 4 episodes in.

Boobs, Pirates, drinking and swordplay.

An average day for Redbeard if rumours are to be believed.

Gets 8.2 on IMDB.com which is normally a good benchmark :)

In fact I watched about half of episode 1 a while ago, and gave up on it, though tbf when you know the reality then fiction can't ever quite be good enough. In spite of rumours to the contrary, there are no 'various kinds' aboard my ships, I can tell you.

Still, bearing in mind too the first word of Sid's second sentence, I might just follow your recommendation and give it another chance. 8-)

Thanks for the thought. ;)

On a more serious note, the Admiral should be ploughing his endeavours into catching me in the spot the ball league, rather than watching lesbian pirates frolicking below deck after splicing the mainbrace.

Black Sails is a preqeul to Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island.
Brilliant series which mixes characters from fiction, Billy Bones, John Silver etc with real pirates from the past, Blackbeard, Bonney, Rackham, Flint etc.

You obviously were not around Diesel when Admiral Redbeard (vice Admiral at the time) sailed his ship and motley crew down the River Calder to take Padiham several years ago.
Many timbers shivered that day and many mainbraces spliced in that epic battle.

Hipper, those 'buccaneers' were but a bunch of clean-shaven landlubbers and outright pansies.

I'd have sunk them within minutes.
