Performance was more disappointing than the result today. Shocking on the ball and just as poor off it. Why we kept letting the crosses come in without any resistance is beyond me. We had a 20 minute spell towards the end where we started closing down the crosser and we were comfortable.

I thought that was our worst away performance since West Brom and we scored TWICE.

Watford, Leicester, Swansea and Palace will get to 40 points I think.
Hull & Bournemouth will get about 35
Sunderland and Boro will struggle to get to 30 points

We still need three wins.

Just said on another thread that today we've had as much luck as we're going to get away from home, and we still got beat.

Nowhere near good enough in terms of the performance.

We will not be far from the bottom 3 come the end of the season. If we stay up, it'll be by 2-3 points. If that's the case, then of course, brilliant - but we seem to make the same mistakes time and time again. We don't learn.

Rather have points in the bag than play catch up. We were poor today though, Swansea definitely deserved to win.

I don't think we're in any danger of the bottom 3 catching us but at this stage of the season and considering the position we're in I'd be expecting us to be looking a lot more comfortable on the ball. That was as poor as it gets.

Only positives I could see from that are for Andre Gray. I think the 2 goals will give him confidence to take into training and the next game....his consistency is non existent. But he is a handful for defenders.

Midfield non existent, missed creativeness there though. Could be in for a few more hoofball games until the injuries look better.

Was Barnes a 1 game ban?

I should add, Swansea look a very tidy side and should really be nowhere near the bottom.

I think the reason we keep letting the crosses come in is because we rely on packing the box and then have a better chance of clearing them which from all accounts we did quite well today

It would be nice to find a good balance and try to close some crosses down mind

But the tactic almost worked today(almost again though)

The tactic didn't almost work though. Even if we had drawn we gave them far too many free headers today.

I'm more disappointed by the performance than the result. We didn't deserve anything today. Still 9 points clear of bottom 3. Not bad at all.

I'd say we have learnt looking at our current league position, compared to our last two visits to the PL.

We know that we allow crosses and long shots in favour of getting bodies in the way of their destination, I'd be more critical of 28.8% possession but in fairness it isn't our style to sit back with the ball, and we did score 2.

I prefer though just to think how good we would be if we had Llorente and Sigurdsson (who didn't start at the Turf) playing for us. They are magnificent and not a bottom three side with them playing.

If you think that any of the current bottom 3 will gain 9 points or more on us in the next 11 games then feel free to worry. We'll continue to pick up points between now and the end of the season. We may or may not end the season 9 points clear of the relegation zone but it's looking like we'll survive comfortably.

They are far from an overreaction. They are justified at was has been yet another away day disaster of a performance. I have honestly no idea why we are so bad away from home

We defended the same way at home to Chelsea and it worked really well. If we honest, though, playing against these sorts of teams we need to be better on the ball. You cant keep playing with 25% possession away from home.

Defensively, we're a good enough unit to see games through once we are 2-1 up with 25 minutes to go and it is the fact we have been unable to even see out a point that is most disappointing.

Can't believe no one has mentioned the blatant push in the back of mee for their third???

Seen it replayed a couple of times on the tv and it's as plain as the nose on your face.

Anyway, first away win at anfield will be nice.

2 points away from home all season isn't an overreaction chief regardless of our position in the table; if you had seen today's game you would have seen a team that hasn't learnt much away from home from both players and manager; we were well beaten and even given a goal. But we should have enough for this season; we really need to start tightening up though and learning to play away in prep for next season.

Completely battered for 94 minutes...never seen us in a more one-sided defeat...did we play badly?..not sure - they certainly played very well and are not going down...it was a very good game to watch..Swansea passed it well, were inventive, athletic.. what a good afternoon of football, we were on the wrong end of it this week.

Keane and Mee both played well - both our full backs got murdered by Carrol, Siggurdson,Olson etc.

We did not deserve a win or draw today - they outplayed us and looked a good side.

At least we lost to 3 excellent goals.

We hung in there though and very nearly got a point.

If Swansea carry on playing like this they will end up mid table.

You see this is where I beg to differ. Out of our remaining games, I don't think we'll pick up many points. One poster said we don't need many points - we don't - but that's not my point. My point is we'll be down there near the bottom with a few games to go. Hopefully, we'll be ok, but we'll still be involved in the relegation drop come the end of the season.

I'm actually reassured - Palace despite winning two in a row have a lot of tough games - Spurs, Watford, Arsenal, Leicester, Us and Hull at home
Chelsea, Southampton, Liverpool, City & United away - That could easily be 0 points away and maybe only 6 points at home

Bournemouth have - West Ham, Swansea, Chelsea, Boro, Stoke and Us at home - they should beat us & Boro
and Southampton, Liverpool, Spurs, Sunderland and Leicester away. (might only beat Sunderland)

Boro have got - Sunderland, United, Us, Arsenal, City and Southampton at home (can't see them getting more than 6 points)
and Swansea, Hull, Bournemouth, Chelsea and Liverpool away (again possibly 0 points away)

Slightly more reassured.

You might be right, but it needs a breathtaking lack of faith in a team which are picking up well over a point a game to suggest we won't pick up many points from the remaining games. I think its more likely we will end the season reasonably comfortable, on about 40 points.

The bottom three will struggle to get thirty points, never mind forty.
