Joey Barton to help the FA or ?
Joey Barton to help the FA or ?
Having had an almost serious debate on what the likely outcome is, may I offer the possible outcome.
The FA thank Joey for his honesty in naming 783 other players who have had a cheeky bet and once these have been verified his suspended 1 week ban will overturned, an FA spokesman said Joeys cooperation and willingness to assist the FA was a huge factor in why the ban of 1 week was not 2 weeks despite the fact he is playing for Burnley.
Or do you think you know what will happen? UTC

I would imagine the figure is much higher than 783

As the ban is a week and not matches could he please serve it during the International break?

Footballers have notoriously been bad for gambling for decades. Plenty of money, time on their hands.
There will be hundreds doing the same thing. Whether through friends or online accounts.
The problem is Joey is as high a profile figure they could hope for to make an example of (bar maybe an international player).
Don't get a good feeling about this at all.

Trouble is most are clever enough not to get caught.Indecisive wrote:This.

Most probably don't upset Glasgow bookies.Jakubclaret wrote:Trouble is most are clever enough not to get caught.
Re: Joey Barton to help the FA or ?
The punishment for biting a player, the punishment for drop kicking a supporter in the stands, the punishment for racial abuse will all be insignificant to the punishment that Joey Barton could get for a cheeky bet here and there. This is the FA's chance to show they mean business and who better to use as cannon fodder but a Burnley player in the name of Joey Barton. However if they do, then I really do hope that every current England International player is investigated and the same punishment applied to any of those found to have had a cheeky bet unless we would prefer to cover those up?

Given he's a scouser from one of the rougher estates in Liverpool, I very much doubt he would grass on anyone.vinrogue wrote:

Does anybody know when the hearing is? There was talk of Swansea being his last game but not seen anything to confirm a date
