How good will we make Sunderland look?
How good will we make Sunderland look?
After we have got our loss live on sky at Anfield next week out of the way, we will have to visit the inept out of form mackems, just how good can we make them look? Like the Liverpool team of the 80's? Barcelona? Or maybe Man United under Fergie.

However good we make Sunderland look let's hope
they make us look a lot better.
So, a great match. Both teams going for it.
And we come from 3-1 down to win 4-3 with a last minute thunderbolt
from Gray. Hendrick, Vokes and Keane get the others.
We're the first match on Match of the Day.

Re: How good will we make Sunderland look?
Such a important game. I think if we get the 3pts we more or less condemn them & more or less guarantee safety for ourselves.
Re: How good will we make Sunderland look?
We've played them 3 times and looked like the better team in each of them, won 2.
There's absolutely no reason to think we won't give them a good game again. Sunderland are going into games now under huge pressure to win. That could spur them on but I've seen very little to suggest they're capable.

First goal is so important in this game ( it is in every game ) if we can score first the place will turn toxic, and only play into our hands.
Fans were heading for the exits as soon as City got their 2nd yesterday.
I'm not sure if the exact fact or even if its true but sky stated burnley have not come from behind to win a game in their previous 36 away games under Sean Dyche.
Not sure if it's premier league only. ( Dyche hasn't had 36 away games in the premiere league so possibly counting our maiden season too )
P.s when we're the last time we came from behind to win away from home.
Birmingham away?

Re: How good will we make Sunderland look?
We've played them three times this season.
I think that 4-1 was one of the most one sided games you will see at this level, and the 2-0 was ridiculously comfortable at this level.
They might win, but the pressure on them will be huge if they continue their current form.

Sunderland will have to win, we don't so a nice, steady grip on the game after Sunderland's initial 20 minute bluster will do nicely.
If we do concede early, we get after them.

The previous two premier league visits and recent fa cup game Sunderland have been pretty poor yet we still haven't managed a win there.
0-0 I'm going for there in a drab affair, with the away win coming at Palace.

Our away wins have been very few in our 2 and a half years in the premier league, and can recall ever going behind then winning.
Hull x 2
Villa 1-0
Stoke 2-1
Is all I recall in terms of away wins, and we took the lead in all of them.

We are 12th in the Premier League with 31 points from 27 games, a position surely better than any of us thought possible. And we still get threads like this.

I think it is more a concern moving forward into next season.
Also it's not a criticism for some it's more of a "why are the performances home and away poles apart" We look like we can beat anyone at home, however away the team looks a shadow of itself to the one that plays at home

I'm going for us making Sunderland look like an 80's Liverpool side. The one which lost to Wimbledon in the FA Cup final to be precise.
Re: How good will we make Sunderland look?
I don't think we made Swansea look good. Bob Bradley just made them both look and perform exceptionally badly.
They actually aren't a bad team, and are, I think, the only ones to take 6 points off us this year without cheating. If only we had played them when they had the American in charge.................
On a good note, I think that we have now already beaten every side that we have left to play away.

Re: How good will we make Sunderland look?
So we have fallen behind 36 times under Mr Dyche in the premier league and failed to win any?
If that's the case it seems more of a reason to get the first goal, and also backs up many people's opinions that it's game over at 1-0 down away.

Re: How good will we make Sunderland look?
In recent weeks 3 of the last 4 games have obviously been a little different in that when we've gone behind we've either drawn level (had a point snatched away from us at Arsenal), gone on to draw at Hull, and gone into the lead at Swansea. So in the last few weeks going 1-0 down is far from game over.MACCA wrote:So we have fallen behind 36 times under Mr Dyche in the premier league and failed to win any?

Re: How good will we make Sunderland look?
What many people were suggesting early on in the season. No plan B , reactive not proactive, playing not to get hammered etc were mentioned.Spijed wrote:In recent weeks 3 of the last 4 games have obviously been a little different in that when we've gone behind we've either drawn level (had a point snatched away from us at Arsenal), gone on to draw at Hull, and gone into the lead at Swansea. The fact is that when we go behind we can't seem to turn the game on its head through a change of personnel, system or tactics.
When/if we get level we often revert back to the pre match plan of sit back and hope a chance falls our way. We don't go for the jugular if the opposition is on the ropes. ( although a great side, City away is the prime example )
When we go in front we rarely lose ( understandable againot top sides ) but baring a mistake we get something from the game.
It seems away we are scared to go out and have a go, I just hope when we are safe , we experiment with different formations, personnel and attitude to see if we can find some answers. We don't want this situation becoming a hangover next season.

We will stand a better chance if we drop Brady to the bench
Re: How good will we make Sunderland look?
Well we are averaging 2pts a game on the Turf and with 5 games to go we should be more than safe, even if we just pick up another 5 at home it will mean Boro hull and sunderland having to get 15 or 16 points from their last 11 games.
Lets bear in mind sunderland have 19 pts from their last 27 games.
Anything we pick up away is an added bonus.
Relax.
