FAO Anyone who went on train to West Ham
Just been asked a question from a fan of another club if it's possible to get back to Euston from the ground in an hour? To catch a 6 o clock train on a Saturday match.
I tried searching the West Ham threads but didn't find any info. Cheers

Google the Javelin, Stratford to Euston in about 20 mins.

That will be tight for time.
Consider leaving ten minutes early.
Consider getting in a taxi outside the ground, to Stratford Station...I think fast trains then go to Euston [check this].
I went the match this season, walking away from the ground back to Stratford station took ages, corralled everywhere, stewards everywhere..
I would say leaving at 4.40pm to get to Euston for 6.00pm is do-able but don't dawdle.

I would avoid Stratford and head for Pudding Mill Lane DLR and change at Bow Church/Road etc and you should be able to do it is half an hour.

As hampstead said it is leaving the ground that proves the problem.what should be a short stroll turned into a yomp! Stratfords your preferred station imo and staff will point you in the right direction. Would leave 10minutes early also if you have a connection.

Had the same discussion for getting the last train after our match. Conclusion was it would be very tight due to the stewarding and queues at the station.
I'd guess that the best bet would be to head to Hackney Wick, get the overground to Highbury & Islington and Victoria line to Euston (assuming that Arsenal aren't at home with a 3pm KO on the same day). I'd still leave a little early though.

Doable! Was at West Ham on train and this worried me too!
Just leave 5 mins early,as they say get a yomp on.At Stratford tube station, all the queues were for tubes are going away from central London,Barking etc, queue for tube to Euston was non existent!
We left 9.55 and got back to euston for 10 30 pm.

forgive me if I'm mistaken, but doesn't the Javelin run to St Pancras not Euston?
I used this service and was back at St Pancras in minutes. The only delay was the farcical arrangements when leaving the stadium. Must have walked for 30 minutes before getting to Stratford station. Once there though the platform was almost empty as everyone else was heading away from central London as mentioned on other responses

Thanks for the responses. He has decided on a later train as it's just not worth the risk. He'll just have to have an extra pint before coming home.

We followed some 'ammers who knocked down a temporary fence to get back to Stratford Station. It still took forever and I couldn't retrace that route if my life depended on it.

Re: FAO Anyone who went on train to West Ham
It's a four minute train ride on the high speed line from Stratford International (next door to the Olympic Stadium) to St Pancras and then about a 400 yard walk along Euston Road to Euston Station. Leave five minutes early and he'll be at Euston in about 20 minutes maximum. It couldn't be easier. More than enough time for a pre-train pint at Euston!oswyclaret wrote:Doable! I was at our game there in December. I left 5 minutes before the end. Before the game it took me around 10-15 mins walk from Stratford International to the away fans turnstiles. After the game it took me 35 minutes to walk back to the same station because of the route you have to take which is overseen by police and stewards.Man of Kent wrote:

I just missed my planned Javelin train back to St.Pancras and the next one was 8 minutes late. I arrived back at St. Pancras at 10.40pm, set off on a brisk walk to Euston station arriving just after 10.50 and so just managed to get the last train to Manchester at 11pm.

Yep, it's easy in theory but if you get stuck in with the crowd control and ludicrous diversions then you're scuppered.
