Total waste of money. Will still be party politics because the mayor will represent his/her party. Right up there with elected police commissioners as an extra expensive layer of unwelcome bullshite.

You can't change the system for 10 years if it is a yes vote. Although the actual Mayor can be changed.

All change and nothing changes. I guess self-serving negotiations and trade offs involving; the leader of the council, the seats and portfolios on the county council, the member of parliament and the new post of mayor have already taken place. Where labour is concerned this may involve the ethnicity of any future leadership candidate. You the voter get to confirm the outcome.

Complete waste of money. I'd just get rid of Burnley Borough Council.
