On the allotment and out with the tandem.

Post by ablueclaret » Fri Mar 10, 2017 8:49 am

Spring sprung yesterday in Wiltshire, a county of late defined by its leaden skies, and so it came to pass that the tandem was awoken from its winter slumber and the spade and fork roused from their torpor and put into worthwhile action.
Today sadly we're back to Corbyn Grey but at least beans carrots beetroot leeks lettuce peas and cabbage now lie beneath the Wiltshire sod waiting for another burst of Spring sunshine and the tandem well it's waiting for my muscles to recover.

Do you claim the rear seat of the tandem and take your feet off the peddles when faced with a small climb ?

What formation have you gone for down the allotment, have you plumped for the beets at the back or tried planting them midfield ?

Whereabouts do you live in Wiltshire abc as my wife and I are thinking of moving to live around the Salisbury area. Would you recommend it?

The tandem has such a rigid framework! It's your last chance to experiment - try two up front.

No I live near Trowbridge, Salisburys a lot nicer because you have easy access to the New Forest, Dorset coast etc but for me Salisbury Plain is the one grim feature of the Southern scenery, neither grandeur or prettiness as it says on the tin, plain.

I'm afraid my wife takes the stick that is the lot of the stoker, you just have to pass any ageing man who thinks he's a comedian to get that old hoary chestnut.
My retort is is she reading the paper, or thought I'd dropped her off in Bath.
It is of course a lot more fun than being on bikes because you get so much more interaction with passers by.

Always have the spuds as my holding midfielder, not showy, but can be relied on unless the ground gets very heavy, when they make way for a 4-4-2 with R.Adish and L. Eekes up front

Not if you get a Tensor one, they're so fluid the wheels are likely to come off, but yes the rigid framework with one up front does work well, although the U +2 does allow some adaptations which as you know I prefer.

Devizes to Bath a favourite run of ours, Caen Hill Locks to Poultney Street with rests at the two Aqueducts and chips in Bradford, a decent mornings work.
