IT Help

Post by Cheshireclaret » Sat Mar 11, 2017 11:09 pm

Evening,

I am a self-confessed dunce when it comes to all things IT and indeed, my 9 and 6 year old kids have forgotten more than I know on the subject. As such, I am trying to sort something out for them at the moment without the need to ask for their help and it appears I require a cable that can connect their iPad minis to another device via an HDMI socket on the other device.

I need a cable that has a lightning (I think they call it) port on one end and a HDMI port on the other yet I think a bag of rocking horse manure is more readily available, unless I am just being a complete and utter moron and not looking in the right place. And yes, I have tried The Apple Store.

Any help would be greatly (and embarrassingly) appreciated so I can tell them smugly that Daddy has sorted it before he departs for Anfield tomorrow.............

Thanks all,

Cheshire (Dunce)

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lightning-Adap ... rt+to+hdmi" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

is this it? Amazon. Won't help you for tomorrow but try your local electricals.

Thanks Minnie,

That does appear to be something like I need however, it seems bizarre there isn't something available with an HDMI port on the end of it? I am clearly missing something. Anyway, that seems to suggest you can't use one of these cables to watch movies purchase via iTunes on another device with this cable, so looks like what I am trying to achieve is impossible!

Could you not get a chromecast for the TV and use the ipads airplay function to watch it without the wires?

Ermmmmmm, yes I suppose I could. If I knew what that meant? Sorry, I'm using misplaced sarcasm - I realise you're trying to help and it's greatly appreciated.

Anyway, what I'm trying to do is sort out two TV panels / tablets I have for the back of my new car and it's got me stumped!!!

How big is your car? Wouldn't you have been better off with a harness on the back of the seat to hold the iPads?

Was going to suggest chromecast also but the cable you seek is available from eBay

Spot on, thanks all for your advice.

One final question - will iTunes allow the movies to play on another device or are they barred?
