Those who moan about the atmosphere at the Turf

Post by WestMidsClaret » Mon Mar 13, 2017 10:57 am

What did you make of the Liverpool fans yesterday? More lively in a church! Father-in-law watched it on TV and said we were brilliant and could only hear us singing apart from the odd "Livvvvvvverpoooooool"! if it wasn't for us there'd have been no atmosphere. Shame about the result but proud of the fans. I lost my voice

I had this chat with someone yesterday.

I heard us a lot, it's almost like they forgot to turn on the microphones and speakers at Anfield that's its rumoured they use to help increase the sound.

Every time i have been its been awful. To be expected with glory hunters and tourists. Genuinely saw or heard very few locals.

Then you have the stadium announcer telling people to sit down.

Fans i speak to always defend them saying ah but its only Burnley wait until you come to a big game. Like that is meant to impress.

To be fair English football in general is poor from an atmosphere and fan experience point of view. In defence of our club though with people like Baldwin involved they do seem to understand the importance of atmosphere and fan involvement.

I reckon that if terracing is legalised over here again that they will be the first to embrace it. Maybe thats why we havent knocked the cfs down yet.

Of course it was poor and always going to be. It's not a big fixture for them. The turf is poor when we play teams like brentford or Rotherham.

I wasn't that impressed with our fans to be fair, compared to past away games. I don't go to that many like but Sunderland away in the FA Cup was 10x better away support with less numbers.

Often happens when fans are actually watching the game as opposed to just participating in the event. Liverpool fans had anxiety, clearly talked up by their manager, about beating "lower teams." Burnley fans had anxiety about achieving a win away from home.

Situations like this makes folk concentrate more on the actual game than making noise.
