Changing fixtures against Liverpool came under a lot of fire at the time. I personally thought it was a bad decision and many others did too.

I still don't think we should bow down to other teams requests so easily.

3/4 of the way into our 4 away games in a row we have only gained one point. But the performances have been OK which give us confidence. I think the decision has been vindicated. An early and unexpected win against Liverpool after the disappointing Swansea defeat got us off to a good start and meant we have never been in the bottom three. Its always important to start well and the result meant we did. We caught Liverpool off guard as they weren't used to or expecting our style. Of the other top 5 teams we have played at home we haven't won. Against Liverpool we have gained 3 points and plus one goal difference in the games.

Had we played them away after the Swansea defeat and before the Chelsea away fixture we could have started adrift and very low on confidence.

Would anyone rather yesterday have been at The Turf as originally scheduled?

No, I was fully behind the fixture switch as it gave us the best possible start. After Dyches previous season in the top league we started badly and never got out of the relegation battle despite finishing the season better.

Think we all would have been happy with taking three points off Liverpool
at the start of the season.

Can't see the order they were played making much odds.

Absolutely.

Would we have got a point at Anfield in August? Highly unlikely.

Would we have beaten Liverpool at home yesterday? Possibly but certainly not a given.

Add to that the psychological boost of beating Liverpool and it's definitely worked in our favour.

Edit: "Absolutely" in answer to the thread title, not the question at the end of the OP.

I think it worked out well and the decision wasn't really ours to make. I can't speak for any others let alone many others.

I know it wasnt our decision to make. Its a theoretical question. Your forum would be an empty place if it was only based on discussions of anything we have an impact or decision in. But you know that.

Plenty of people thought it was a bad decision. I can speak for them as they posted as much on here and said as much in 'real life' discussions...

Three points in the bank that might keep Prem football at 'Turf next season.
The added bonus of beating one of the big boys early on did wonders for our confidence.

The decision was vindicated the moment we got a positive result at TM. Yesterdays result was irrelevant.

It was the right decision to switch when we were asked to switch.

Before we'd started the season there was a strong argument that we only had a chance of taking something from Liverpool if we caught them "unprepared" - and even then we could only do this at the Turf.

Before the start of season we had no track record of "fortress Turf Moor" and no track record of "no wins away." We had 2 previous Prem seasons when we went straight back down. In the accumulation of points, winning early in the season is important.

We are where we are today - played 28, 31 points, 12th and above the relegation scrap - because we beat Liverpool - and have repeated the great home form from then on - with the advantage of getting in one more home game in the first half of the season.
