Not looking good for Gudmundsson for the weekend if he's not involved in this I'd have thought

Is this game at Turf Moor CT?

Thought we were giving the pitch a 6 week rest?

I'm sure SD said in his presser after the Liverpool game that Gudmundsson wouldn't be fit for Sunderland.

Great news seeing Defour on the team sheet. We need him if we're going to get over the line this season. He touch of class gives us a real boost.

He did and did not sound at all positive as to when he would return - I expect he will be out for at least another 3-4 weeks from that

Edmonton are in the NASL, the second tier, below the MLS.

They beat Wigan reserves the other day.

Cheers Walton.

Sounds like they are a pretty decent standard.

New York Cosmos in their league !!....and Miami - David Beckham`s new toy.

That league most hold the world record for distance between all of the teams !

For Dwight McNeil to be named in that very strong team seems to suggest this lad is well thought of. Seems to have had a good season so far.

No surprise really. Hopefully he can feature soon, he adds a lot to us going forwards.

The report states : "But the Canadian outfit did get some reward when a mis-placed pass from Flanagan". That's not surprising either.

Great to know Steven Defour is playing again - and great to be reminded of some of the other good players we have behind the usual starters and the bench.

Having Defour back for Sunderland would be such a huge boost for us, it really would.

Trialist? in such a strong team, with Dyche watching...I bet no one went or has any ideas who it was?

Be interesting to see where Flanagan ends up next season. I was expecting good things from him when he signed but it really is a waste when a loan player from another high profile Premier club offers as little as he has this season.

It would be nice even if he only makes the bench, at least it would give us some options.

replace Pope, trialist and Flanagan with Heaton, Brady, and Ward, and I'd hope that side would achieve Championship playoffs

He has no chance of being available this weekend - only three weeks since he did it and it was a bad one.

You obviously know more than the manager, because he has never suggested it was a bad one... Unless I missed something

The Miami team in the NASL isn't Beckham's club - which doesn't exist as yet. The Miami team is owned by Italian TV rights mogul Riccardo Silva and has Alessandro Nesta as coach. They are pretty average.

NASL is officially one of two second 'division' leagues in the US and Canada but its standard is well below MLS. To give it UK level - its League 2 at best.

Flanagan is a right back, not left back,Lincoln Manager said they used that fact,to win the FA Cup game, exploited it with their tactics,RE,left footer at right back, and it worked for them.

No it didn't. They never bothered our defence all afternoon until they were given a corner that wasn't.

Funny how Defour was back in training before the Swansea game but needs a game for match fitness while Hendrick was suspended for 3 games but came straight back in.

I don't mind Dyche managing Defour more carefully. He has a history of injuries so it makes sense to be cautious.

It's just a good job were in a position where we aren't fighting for our lives or else he may have needed to be rushed back.

Not saying we're up, far from it, but we've got enough of a cushion to allow him to fully recover and get back to fitness.

Hendrick wasn't returning from injury though.

anyone else read claretandy's post with an upward-lilting "oh" exclamation to the point made, only to readBFCmaj's post with a corresponding "oh" with a downward-lilting resignation?
