Trialists

Is there a reason why "Trialists" are unnamed?

So other clubs are not alerted. Youth teams don't have name and numbers on so it's harder for opposition scouts to track the youngsters.

Any scouts there will know who they are.

I don't think they can be named on a team sheet if they are not registered - I think the answer is as simple as that.

I have seen quite a few trialists on various team line-ups recently. Are we getting more than we used to do? Or is it just that we get regular news of line-ups because of a greater online presence?

Also Tony, do you see any additional potential in this years crop than previously?

I don't often see them - most of the dev squad games are behind closed doors. There were four involved at Stockport for the PLC game against Sunderland a couple of weeks ago. I knew two of them were Harry Flowers and Harry Limb who had both signed, the other two got half a game each. One of them looked reasonable but not easy to form an opinion from 45 minutes.
