Shakespeare, Robson and Redknapp

Post by ClaretTony » Wed Mar 15, 2017 1:13 pm

Just seen that Craig Shakespeare has become only the third Englishman to manage a club into the quarter-finals of the Champions League.

Given that it is the same competition as the previously named European Cup you would have thought that such as Harry Potts & Bill Nicholson might have been considered let alone Brian Clough, Bob Paisley and Tony Barton who all led teams to winning finals.

The problem is that football did not exist before then....

The older competition only exists when they're tallying up the number of trophies, bit like the PL era.

I was surprised to hear in the commentary on Sunday that if we'd won we would have reached our highest points total.

Must've been a crap league in 1960 to win it with less than 34 points.
