AP actually said it wasn't working well before the race.

Also the 500k was put on by the same punter that staked 400k on Altior yesterday

My dad's friend used to be a bookie on courses and he used to say that these stories were often fabricated. Giving punters false belief in odds on fave even when they knew they weren't the dead certs they were pricing them as

They interviewed the bookie that took the bet on the radio after the race, definitely happened.
The host also wondered if the punter that made the bet was well off, I would say yes probably.
