The Great Awakening .

Post by davemanu2000 » Tue Mar 14, 2017 12:16 pm

For 33 years we were doomed to lower divisions . Still Burnley made every effort possible to be promoted in the Premier League . History proved that we were not prepared to fight in the PL . Subsequently we were demoted and took our place in the Championship .We fought back earnestly and again won promotion . Again we were proved unlucky and had to make our way to the Championship .
The third accession to the PL was not too difficult . We were proclaimed champions of the Championship . From the very beginning we started well . Beating Liverpool at home by 2-0 was not easy . In the meantime the Manager very astutely chose the right players from among the discarded PL players and from the lower divisions ,It is to his credit and that of our unsung training staff that the players made to shape to confront any club of the PL . The players were young and were ever ready to be hardened as iron ores , Three of our players are knocking the entry into the England team and others are not sitting back idle . Slowly and steadily they are being beckoned to play at international level.
This year has been positive .The Pundits are giving high credits to our squad . The latter are in the mood to fight all . So far the high brows of the PL have beaten us by the smallest margin . Our academy is working to marvel . many are in the brink to claim a place in the first team .
I dare say that we have firmly established in the PL . Ranking from 10th to12th is not bad at all . Just imagine bigger clubs with enormous revenues are battling for their lives to stay in the PL .
Up the Clarets ! Long Live Burnley ! Jai Ho Burnley !

Guy in Mauritius writes a nice articulate piece and the response is "bhurdwaz".

Something is clearly wrong with the UK education system.

From gloom to bloom . Why should we bother ? Burnley are determined to stay in the yard of greats . Burnley were ,are and will be a great footballing town . We are proud to be fervent and die-hard fans of one and only mighty Burnley .
On viewing the match Liverpool against Burnley ,the younger generation who do not know much about the history of Burnley have started believing the rise and rise of the club .

Before the conclusion of all matches in the Pl ,Burnley will win at least two away matches in order to close the mouths of some football pundits .

davemanu, I recall as young schoolboy in the mid 1950s walking up from my nearby school towards Turf Moor, where I got into a conversation with a huge jovial man. He told me he was from the Mauritias FA and had a blazer/jacket on bearing Mauritias FA badge on the pocket. It was not many years after Burnley had played there in a friendly, so he might have been invited to call in on the club, while in the Country.
