The facts of survival.

Post by Pstotto » Sun Mar 19, 2017 2:18 pm

Hull need 3 wins in 9 games to overhaul us.
Middlesboro require 3 wins and a draw in 10 games likewise.
Sunderland need 4 wins and a draw in 10 games just to catch us.

Stato might want to put up a list of their fixtures to see if there is even a possibility of such an event.

This also assumes us taking no points from our last 9 games. It's unlikely.

On that basis, there's a reasonable chance we will survive, barring an unprecedented collapse and a bizarre sequence of events.

We're perfectly safe.

None of the three will catch us.

could this be the season where all three relegated don't make 30 points? - unlikely I know but they all need something to happen and sharpish

Bobinho I am sound and lucid and an intellectual and a published academic and no.1 in the world in my field of enquiry BUT I am constantly driven mad by my exclusion of society in tandem with schizophrenia doing it's damnest to try and exclude me from my own head, plus mania and bipolarity and a bit of autism to boot.

Sound as a Poundland store, though and safe as houses.

Oh the luxury of a boring thread on this topic. We'll be bored of talking about our Champions League campaign in 2020.

I think that's very likely.

Hull in the last nine games have won 3 and drawn two.
Boro have won none and drawn 4.
Mackems have won one and drawn 3.

We have won 2 and drawn 3.

Suggests we need a win to be safe.

I think we can muster a single win before the end of the season.

Swansea looked poor yesterday....Clement doesn't do pressure very well and their good run could be on the wain....hopefully.

Hull are probably the biggest threat to our survival
given they have 4 or 5 homes games which they will see as very winnable.

There's still a possibility of one or two teams going into free fall.
The most likely are Watford, Swansea and ourselves.
Our last six games have been relegation form (3 points).
Admittedly 5 of them have been away but we've never looked like winning any of those.
It is probably the case, as many on here have suggested,
that another 4 or 5 points might suffice. One win and a couple of draws.

That doesn't sound too difficult but we all know football is a funny game and
sometimes things don't work out as most believe.

I mean who would have predicted we'd win 9 at home and not one away.
and a month or so ago Swansea and Palace looked close to down and out.

Nonsense.
We looked very much like winning yesterday until half time.
We also looked capable of winning at Liverpool.

Now, I'm as nervous about all this as anyone, but spare us manufactured negativity.

With 9 games to go we've achieved 9 points in our last nine matches. 7 at home, 2 away.

It's quite feasible that we'll achieve a similar number of points from our remaining five home games and four away.

Two wins and a draw at home and two draws away.

That would give us 41 points for the season. Very acceptable, i'm sure everyone would agree.

Use is right. Out of the last 5 games we've looked like being able to win all (except maybe Swansea although the motd highlights were easier watching than I expected and bar the first period ubtil.our pen we looked capable of points easily)

Yesterday we should have been clear at half time
Liverpool were lucky and we created a bunch of chances
Swansea we were a bit poor
Hull gifted a pen without which they never looked like scoring
Lincoln score with their only realneffort on target 2nd we misses a bunch of chances

Could not agree more. hull have Sunderland Boro and Watford at home and Palace away
Owt can happen and to think we have enough pts on the board already is worse than "overconfidentialis vulgaris"
