Sara Cox....BBC..Radio 2

Post by hampsteadclaret » Tue Mar 21, 2017 12:45 am

Sara Cox is doing a 'Sounds of the 80s' sponsored 24 hour Danceathon at the moment..I have had the radio on most of the day and watched some of this

stuff on the red button earlier...she started at 9.30am this morning and will finish the same time on Tuesday. Fair play to her...I think it is probably very

difficult to dance for 24 hours, she's looking a little weary after fifteen hours into it...she has had different supporters with her throughout the day and

to date she has raised about £220,000 [including a little bit from me] which is part of the Red Nose Day/Comic Relief stuff....a good news story.. :)

Enjoyed watching her this morning, much better than watching BBC Breakfast doing their best to convince me that Martin McGuiness was a good guy really

Just donated to support her, and I'm referring to a financial donation to charity.... however, I most certainly would ;)

The BBC presenting both sides of an argument ? You must be gutted.

She is do-able.

Argh, I don't understand why people would do her....

I know a lad who's got a bit of a thing for her too and I just don't get it.

She's fit until she speaks. Grating thick accent coupled with attitude, a combination which seems great for television.

I may be doing her a disservice. It's years since I saw her on TV, she's probably got loads of kids now.

Grating thick accent?

She sounds like we all probably do!

And me. And I have to say that anyone, of a certain age, watching her this dancing this morning who wasn't impressed is a cold, cold fish. :)

She finished 45 minutes ago and at the last count SC had raised £825,000 which is a pretty amazing figure [for good causes] by any standards...that total will of course rise....well done her, great effort.

- of course she will sound a bit like us, that is a Bolton accent.

We can all be gobby and have a bit of attitude [which describes her..]...it takes a bit of something extra to get off your backside, when your life is pretty cosy, and do something special, [dancing for 24 hours] which I imagine is pretty difficult, which benefits a lot of other people.

She's certainly got a gob on her.
She once said that "The queen mother smells of pee".

She was perceptive as well then.

What was that old joke...

A The Queen Mother, doing the Hokey Cokey.

A definite difference between Bolton and Burnley accents, thankfully! Not everybody in Burnley sound thick, whereas in Bolton they do regardless.

Yes I know there is Frank, I could spot the difference between Burnley and Bolton [17 miles apart as the crow flies] accents in a few seconds.

Re posts 8 and 12 I think we are saying that Bolton and Burnley accents are 'similar' whereas Burnley and Newcastle, or Burnley and Southampton are not.
