jeff hendrick

Post by moaninclaret » Tue Mar 21, 2017 10:39 am

i am hoping we havnt seen the best of him yet. a big money signing and apart from a great goal he has looked very average. his international form was good but he is nowhere near that. maybe sd went off that form but for me 10 million was a massive gamble that so far is nowhere near being payed back ok ,there may not be many good midfielders for that sort of money but i really hope he is better than we have seen up to now. joey makes him look a poor investment at the moment and i thought we played better during his ban for the straight red utc

Take the blinkers off. He works his socks off every match just doesn't get forward enough.
That could be under instruction. He's been a good signing.

He doesn't stand out because he has no outstanding features. He does everything ok but you can't say heading is his strength or shooting for instance.

He suffers from his price tag but should get better the more we upgrade his teammates.

The ban came at a bad time, he was in his best form prior to that and looked really good.

He's a bit like Vokes, in that he's a quite a big unit and I reckon he'll be better playing week in, week out.

Don't know what you've been watching or what you were expecting. He didn't have a good game at Sunderland but prior to the red card he'd been in outstanding form and looked just the midfielder we had wanted. And part of his ban was the Lincoln game.

The bloke is absolute class. Carries the ball with such strength, yet looks graceful at the same time.

Took a few games to settle in - then became probably our best and most important player up to his sending off.

Not quite hit that form again since coming back but will do shortly I'm sure.

Would like to see Defour, Hendrick, Barton all start - and one from Boyd, Scotty or Brady. I know this would lack width but Boyd and Arfield spend a lot of the game tucking into the middle anyway

Bit of a slow start, but there must of been a period of 8 games where he looked really good.He is the one who seems to carry the ball quickly from back to front, out of all the midfield he seems the one who has that bit of class about him.Defour for me will always be in and out injured, and playing when he can be assed.Hendrick will come really good next year I think

"The bloke is absolute class. Carries the ball with such strength, yet looks graceful at the same time." What you forgot to add was "apart from when he played against Sunderland". I haven't seen enough yet to convince me that he's "absolute class".

Heaton - overweight and poor kicking
Lowton - can't cross
Mee - makes mistakes every game
Boyd - offers nothing
Arfield - offers nothing
Barton - potential liability
Hendrick - average and a poor investment
Gray - shocking control
Barnes - just fouls people
Vokes - not up to it at this level

Done some job Dyche this season to think we are 13th and spent 1 week in bottom 3 all season (after first game).

Missed a few out

Brady - can't cross
Ward - has a big nose
Defour - can't last over an hour
JBG - crock
Dyche - Can't fit Tarks in the team, can't get Flanagan back into the England fold and can't see Agyei for the Michael Owen esc teenager he is!

Definitely poor against Sunderland, but he'd been very good up to then, after a slow start.
All of our new players will be even better next season. Fitter after an SD pre season, and more familiar style of play for their team mates.

I like Jeff, and have a sneaky feeling that he will play a pivotal part of our survival with either a couple of goals or MoM displays.
( I think Brady will also do the same, and people will be waxing lyrical about how well we did getting them both here and playing together )

Nope, Dean Marney... it's all gone wrong since he got injured again through Mr Dyche's over the top training ragimes!

I think all our players are workhorses and nay that were not would not get in the squad, we don't really have any outstanding flair players but a few that show glimpses they can be better such J Hendricks, S Defour and Brady (not in a Burnley shirt yet but scored great goal from a free kick)

These three have not had a consistent run in the team and if they could between now and season end I think we would see an improvement.

However given where we are I bow to the managers knowledge and how he wishes to set the team up, he sees them week in & out, training and competitive matches.

Its a team game and not an individual one, however I do recognize that some players really make a team tick but we have none of those but we do have several leaders which is also important. Trying to turn the team around from workman like to "more" flair net season will be a big ask and interesting to watch I think, but everyone will need to be schooled in the SD way

Hendrick is good, the red card hampered his form a bit but carries the ball very well. Still though, I'm sure many of us can agree we slightly overpaid.

Been decidedly average since coming back from the red card.

Apart from that he's reasonably hard working and solid - the price tag isn't his fault

Looks like a very accomplished player. Rarely, if ever concedes possession, is very happy receiving the ball in tight areas and makes subtle moves to get into positions to give an option to our centre backs and his midfield partner.

His shooting has been very disappointing as has his influence in the final third of the pitch but I think that will come with time. Overall he's a classy player.

He's been great but playing in a midfield two under Dyche doesn't play to his strengths. He needs a bit more freedom to surge forward from midfield.

A great signing a Roy Keane type who gets stuck in and can play a bit too.Still think his volley goal is up at No 1 this season.

I was totally against signing him in the summer (due to reports from Derby fans on him) but he has won me over with some of his displays.

I would like to see him get forward more but I guess like the above poster says it is more instructions from Dyche that is stopping him doing it too often.

I agree his goal at TM was probably goal of the season so far, definitely up there with the scorpion kick from Mkhitarian.

A five man midfield is a must if we want to get the best out of our midfielders like Hendrick and Defour especially at home.

We are massively predictable in a 4-4-2

I'm really happy with Geoff, done well after the initial period.
As for 10 million quid (or 13 for Brady) - it's probably the equivalent of 3 million 10 years ago. It's peanuts for a Premier League club

Man of the match according to the Sky Pundits at Anfield.

He started the season a bit hesitantly, but since then he's been outstanding. One of our best players. His physicality and ability to get around the park in midfield are a pretty big reason why we had that fantastic run over December and January that got us into the position we're now in. And as others have said, he's ability to carry the ball with opponents seemingly hanging off him at times is probably as close as we're going to get at Burnley to watching Yaya Toure in his pomp.

Price tag seems to be about right for him in this market, and every chance that he'll be worth significantly more in 12-18 months time. I'd certainly hope that discussions have opened about extending that contract for a year or two longer.

Odd to single him out for Sunderland blame. Every midfield player seemed to be guilty at some point of passing to a red-and-white "teammate", and I suppose you could add Lowton onto that list.

I didn't think that the strikers, generally, were too bad. They didn't get an awful lot to work with. Both seemed to get kicked a lot when in the middle of the pitch by defenders who looked better than in previous games, but had worked out that "stopping them early" was the best option. They didn't appear able to control Vokes at all when he came on.

One of our better players, you can tell he's played under Paul Clement, calm in possession and passes with quality. He has the physical attributes to match, its a shame we bypass the midfield so often.

If this was week three of his stay here, you'd be bang on. But it's not. which means you aren't. He's been excellent since he settled in. It took 8 or 10 games for him to do that in my opinion, but this lad has found his feet and is consistently one of our best performers.

Gotta admit i'm a little confused by this. :?

I think Derby were impressive under Clement, the first half against us at home we were outclassed. The penalties and that fluke Arfield goal made the scoreline flatter us. Its obvious the problems at Derby are behind the scenes. Signed too many players, owners get involved with teamtalks and sacking managers before they're given chance to buile their own project.

KBRFC you really are an obnoxious annoying sad individual. You are so anti everything Burnley and just in this for the attention which you clearly crave.

Best mates with Saxo so why don't you just both sod off

You have a few sad act mates on here but most clearly despise you ! You and your mate have made this board boring !

Just saying what people think !!!!

It's an international break so I expect a lot of bewildering observations on our overachieving mid table Premier League players will be posted in the coming days.
I think Hendrick was consistently among our top three performers in between Stoke away and the 6th minute at Watford. I expect he'll by a £20m player by the end of the 17/18 season.

I agree that the sending off/ban came at a very bad time as he'd got the hang of things after a shaky start and was proving a real force.
