James Tarkowski: Then and Now
James Tarkowski: Then and Now
Don't know if its me but when signing him he seemed athletic strong and mobile. Through no fault of his own probably just the way his body has developed whilst growing up but he now just seems like timber and not agile. For me he just doesn't seem the guy to replace Keane well not in the prem just doesn't look the mobile player he did a few seasons back.

Can't say as I've noticed, tbh. Perhaps he's following instructions to be a little more circumspect or controlled in his play. Dunno.

Re: James Tarkowski: Then and Now
He doesn't need to be that agile as a defensive midfielder, just got to block people and get his foot stuck in.

Re: James Tarkowski: Then and Now
Be sarcastic all you want I don't think he will cut it in the prem as a CB at the rate he's going. Mobility and pace is key in this division its not all about heading a ball and being 6foot odd. In which I'm trying to say he's come away from who I thought we were signing as a player back then be it down to his own body development or anything else who knows. Still remember the game where he wore the mask playing for Brentford I thought he looked better than Keane tbh but now he seems to have gone backwards.

Batman or Spiderman mask?
Re: James Tarkowski: Then and Now
You've done well to make such a judgement based on how little he has played for us.

Re: James Tarkowski: Then and Now
His few recent performances have been average, at best, but don't write him off for that.
Game time would bring him back up to initial impression levels.

Re: James Tarkowski: Then and Now
I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but Keane didn't look all that did he when he first started playing for us?
I know he had a couple of good games, but also some 'mare moments.

Not playing will be detrimental to any footballer, although I haven't seen any evidence with Tarky.

Seriously, where on earth has this post come from? The lad's hardly played so I've no idea where you've had this insight from.

Same place as people get their opinions about the contribution Darikwa or Agyei could make if given a place in the 1st team.Falcon wrote:Seriously, where on earth has this post come from? The lad's hardly played so I've no idea where you've had this insight from.

Exactly right, it's a long run in the team and match fit sharpness that brings out the maximum in a player.minnieclaret wrote:His few recent performances have been average, at best, but don't write him off for that.

Keane looked a bit shaky when he was playing a bit part now he is excellent.
We will miss Keanes pace but that also allows Mee to play the aggressive meeting the ball game he does because Keanes pace can sweep up any mistakes or misses.
