Everton ground move
Has just took a step closer with them agreeing to purchase the land at the Kings Dock.
As much as I love Goodison as an old ground. Being so close to the City centre will make for a great trip out for visiting fans.

Would that just leave us and Palace with wooden seats in the PL?

One of my favourite grounds and a massive part of the history and culture of football in Liverpool. Be a shame if they moved.

Re: Everton ground move
I can remember a Liverpool fan discussing this with me and the fact that it will add an additional "Grace" to the Liverpool waterfront. In his opinion it would be a "disgrace!""

Re: Everton ground move
Liverpool fans are going mad about it and trying to block it, putting pressure on the council etc..CaptJohn wrote:I can remember a Liverpool fan discussing this with me and the fact that it will add an additional "Grace" to the Liverpool waterfront. In his opinion it would be a "disgrace!""
They are upset that all three stadiums in the City will of been built for Everton.

Re: Everton ground move
According to Twitter, already been named by a poll of Everton fans as 'The Skallianz Arena.' Apparently 'The Ketihad' was second choice.

If you're called Everton but your stadium's not in Everton then what's the point of anything?

Like Everton they are a proper scouse club not like their plastic neighbours Liverpool, who after my visit of the other week appear to be followed by anyone and everybody bar scousers.

Re: Everton ground move
I drove past Goodison a few months back, I'm pretty sure a fair amount of work was/is going on there. Seems a hell of waste of money to redevelop and then move.

It will be three years at least until they move. They haven't got planning permission yet.evensteadiereddie wrote:I drove past Goodison a few months back, I'm pretty sure a fair amount of work was/is going on there. Seems a hell of waste of money to redevelop and then move.

About time, always made me wonder why such a big team had such an rundown stadium.

I wonder how they'll cope with the traffic with a 50k stadium on the docks.

Re: Everton ground move
Just to give some perspective of how far they're moving:
*Everton FC to Bramley Dock = 2.2 miles
*Burnley FC to Worsthorne = 2 miles
*Burnley FC to Burnley Golf Club = 2.8 miles

Re: Everton ground move
They have to move - Goodison is just no good to them now. It can't be redeveloped properly and the capacity can't be increased. In some ways its a shame but Goodison but at least people will get seats with a view in any new stadium.

article about teams with grounds under construction on skysports. Shame not one of them talks to how technology will be integrated - far more interesting a topic than its shape/soul

Re: Everton ground move
A lot of point scoring and jibes going on between Liverpool and Everton fans at the moment. 'At least were not forcing people out of their homes to improve the ground' was one quip.
It is horrible what Liverpool and the council have been doing over the last 20 years, buying and and putting compulsory orders on local residents.
