British passport holding Chinese descendants

Post by Bin Ont Turf » Fri Mar 24, 2017 1:46 am

Do you think that they get upset when we 'have' to call a murderous bearded sh1thouse an 'Asian'?

That's how you integrate, you glass back wilting sh1tes, call British citizens Asians.

Oh look, there's another 'Asian' passing his driving test.

A bit like the British passport holding Japanese/Korean/Malaysian/Vietnamese/etc being called Chinese (or a derivative of this term)

He's referring to people from specific countries being called Asian instead of what they actually are - Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi etc.

They're actually from the sub-Asian/Indian continent, see the list of countries below:-

Afghanistan.
Bangladesh.
Bhutan.
India.
Nepal.
Maldives.
Pakistan - the main people who people associate as being Asian for whatever reason, or they identify themselves as Asian at a guess sometimes.
Sri Lanka.

The same could be applied to Britain / British.

I understand the point that 'Asian' is a catch-all and that, as you say, the main group who seem to refer to themselves as such would not consider themselves to be in a group that included Indians. It's the specifics of his rant that intrigue me. "WTAF is he on about?" remains the question.

From my experience when people say 'Asian' it completely depends on where you are as to which nationality it conjures thoughts of. In the North West I'd say most people think of Pakistanis and Bangladeshis, however my friend from Bedfordshire uses it to refer to people of Chinese/Japanese/Korean origin, and I've also noticed a lot of Americans use it this way also.

Quite simple really.

The Chinese, along with numerous other people from around the world, live amongst everyone else, they don't have their specific areas or 'ghetto's' as some people like to call them.

It's only really the Pakistani's and (this rarely gets mentioned) the Jews who have their 'own' areas where they live as a group of people.

At a guess that's what BoT's rant is about, people who try to distance themselves from other sections of society.

If you're born and raised here I think you should be labelled British.
If you're from a different country and want to be identified as such, then that's fine, but labelling a race of people with the name of a continent is abit much in my opinion.
It probably doesn't help though that the abbreviation of Pakistani is used as an insult by certain braindead morons.

I have to admit when I use 'Asian' to describe somebody, 99% of the time I mean somebody who's Pakistani. 'Pakistani' is just too many syllables though, and as you rightly say, the abbreviation is way too loaded with racist connotations nowadays, so I'm afraid it has to be Asian for me.

We all do it, it's just less aggravation I suppose, the fear of upsetting someone by using the abbreviation of Pakistani.

Got to give kudos to those on here that understood BoT's post. I have read it several times, along with the explanations on this thread and I still have no idea what he is getting at?!

Even the first sentence "Do you think that they get upset when we 'have' to call a murderous bearded sh1thouse an 'Asian'?"
- What makes him think everybody has to call a [murderer] an Asian? Or is he saying we have to call an Asian murderer an Asian? In which case it's still wrong - you can simply call him/her a murderer or you could add other adjectives besides Asian. Who does he think is making him use the word 'Asian'?
- Why would a Chinese holder of a British Passport care any more about whatever he is trying to say than anyone else?

And the rest of the post is equally baffling. Could someone who understands what he is getting at translate the whole post?

I know Hindus in Britain are upset when terrorists are referred to as 'Asians' as that tends to lump them in with Muslims. They regard themselves as a peaceful, prosperous, law-abiding community that is about as far from terrorism as you can get in this country. It's a dilemma because the media quite naturally do not wish to exacerbate the view that Muslims are terrorists.

I've pushed a penny off something very high for you. You'll know when it's landed. It'll be the moment the complete mind-melting, breathtaking, complete fuckw1ttery of the OP becomes clear to you; an assumption you went along with too. Keep, as you say, "paying attention" not just assuming that which you already"know" to be true.

I see that Walton has still got a tent on for me. Which one of your cowardly twitter friends is the poster thatdberight?

Any road, I'm off to the Asian shop for a pint of milk and a little red book by Chairman Mao.

You're completely wrong. On the contrary, it's because my view is made so much easier to dismiss by idiocy like yours that I care about it.

What view?

You've spent two of your six posts on this board asking what I was on about.

How can you have a view on something when you don't understand what it is you think you should have a view on?

Its them Caucasians I feel for. Getting mixed up in all this asian bashing!

On a serious note. There are more than a few obvious reasons why certain groups of people are referred to by their 'racial origin'.

1 The abbreviation / nicknames / slang for some rightly or wrongly is deemed as racist. And if Pakistanis dont like being referred to as 'Pakis' thats good enough for me why we shouldnt refer to them as that. It might not seem logical to some not to call them that but if they dont like ot and dont want to be referred to as that then its simple. Dont call them it. Much like homsexuals dont like being called queer. Or black people dont like being called 'n'. Theres a valid reason why they dont and we should respect that.

2 Rightly or wrongly its not easy to immediately identify whether someone is of a certain specific ethnic origin. Its often more obvious what region they come from but not what country. And its even less obvious whether theyre eg british asians or otherwise. Therefor Asian is clearly refereing to their heritage. Much like in somewhere like East Africa it wouldnt be obvious to 'locals' whether a 'mzungu' lwhite man) would be English, German, Dutch, French, Belgian heritage. On appearence alone its almost impossible to know. And its likely that any would be less offended to be labelled white man / european than a dutchman being wrongly labelled german. Or german wrongly labelled english etc

3 as sammy points out round here asian would refer to pakistanis and bengalis in the main. 'Chinks' (another offensive name) would be what most label anyone 'oriental' regardless of where they are from. Whereas in somewhere like Leicester, Asians would refer fo Indians. A lot of places in America would refer to Oriental origin.

4 if anyone can tell the specific origin of south east asian descendants just by looking and talking to them you have a real talent.

5 its just easier and less likely to offend anyone by referring to the regional heritage than specifying what someone is without knowing.

Its obvious why people refer to people as Asians but some people want to find an issue that isnt there. Racial undertones usually.

1- whilst you say they don't like the word, both them and black people use their respective words, so .....

2- we've fallen into the habit of labelling everyone Asian to avoid offending Pakistani's.

3- as aside note I think Pakistani's refer to Bangladeshi's as Bungles or something similar.

4- there are differences if you know what you're looking for, but it takes a while to learn.

5- fair point.

You do know why that is right?

2- we've fallen into the habit of labelling everyone Asian to avoid offending Pakistani's.

No we havent. Explained above why. Depends on what 'asians' are more prominent in your area. Burnley pakistanis and bangladeshis. East midlands indians. Inner cities typically but not exvlusively oriental.

3- as aside note I think Pakistani's refer to Bangladeshi's as Bungles or something similar.

Ive a lot of Bengali friends and both they themselves and pakistanis call them bungles. Bengalis have probably adopted what pakistanis used as a derogatory term much like pakistanis and afro caribbeans adopted the words from point 1

4- there are differences if you know what you're looking for, but it takes a while to learn.

I know there are thats why its easier to use the generic asian term. Japanese for example tend to be paler. But not exclusively.

5- fair point.
Answers above. Anyway im going to sleep now. Need to sleep this indian food cooked by bengalis and delivered by a pakistani off.
