It sounds like the girl has left the house without her father being aware rather than them letting her take the dog for a walk.

Yesterday the police issued a plea on Facebook to find the parents which I found very strange.

I don't think it's that uncommon for kids to get out of houses without their parents knowing but why didn't a 4 year old know where she lived or her mum and dad/stepdads names? To tell the police straight away.

Glad the girl was found safe though.

Lets be honest here. Did the 4 year old girl really find the dog lead, put the dog lead on the staffy and open the door and leave the house with the excited dog without the step dad knowing. Of course she didn’t. He had probably sent her out to walk the dog because he couldn’t be bothered himself. I’m sure he would have known she was missing in a matter of minutes if he was bothered and he would have gone looking. He then would have come across the police car who found her in the local area.

He has made this story up so he doesn’t get arrested for child neglect/cruelty.

You wouldn't have thought there was that was that much room in a set of pepper pig pyjamas.

This reminds me of the story of uncle jack, although no-one mentioned it being a high horse.

What do you want me to say when they answer?

I'm a little concerned all your hope goes to an imaginary friend. You do know he's not real don't you?

I'm with Pushpinpussy - very suspicious of the circumstances. Anybody worth their salt in local Social Services should hear bells ringing.
4 year old girl & strong animal capable of inflicting terrible injuries - both unsupervised and together. Both allowed to get out of the house at 10 am on a March morning when it's unlikely the door would be open.
I hope the "advice " that the police gave to the parents was very strong.

I'd like to think it's very uncommon for a 4 year old girl to be able to sneak out from the person caring for her, walk what could be a very strong and dangerous dog on her own, along a very busy main road.

For her to be alone, and without her parents for 70 minutes, aswell as being in a police car and station must have been quite an ordeal for the young girl .

The little girl has been let down by her carers, and quite fortunate not to have sustained injuries if not worse. This could have been a very different news paper article and people shouldn't lose sight of that.

I’ve got too say guys. If you find these things amusing I then question you’re parenting skills. Disgraceful. I agree with MACCA, it could have gone massively wrong. But if you guys, who hopefully don’t have children, want to make jokes about it then albeit. Shame on you.

Put the dog down, send the parents to Iraq/Afghanistan so they can learn from real people and burn the house down to stop anyone living there again.

I've got 3 kids, but I've also got a sense of humour.

You should get one, kids or humour, whichever works for you really.

An imaginary deity won't help them either.

Don't make this personal though, nothing wrong with how my kids are raised unless you want to claim otherwise and make yourself look a bit of a dick in the process.

Poor child can't choose who her parents are but could end up like them. Meanwhile more police time wasted by thick sc*m. Anyone who has a dog like that with a 4 year old child is an idiot in my mind. ' oh but my dog is not like that blah blah blah...'

Guess that makes me an idiot then. I had a German Shepherd before my kids were born. They grew up with him until he died aged 14. 7 years ago, when my son was 4 we got a Staffy. Guess what? In the 13 years my daughter has been raised with a dog in the house, i need the same number of fingers to count the problems as i do to count the number of times Rovers have beaten Burnley in the last 7 years. Still wouldn't let them walk him alone though, he is too strong for a child to manage.

Good grief, it's got a bit out of hand this thread, poor old pushpin was merely showing concern for this little four year old and its staffie, just behave yourselves and let's just agree that the child should have been watched a bit more diligently, that all Muslims are bad and staffies are great dogs.

And get pushinpussy some English lessons.

Just an everyday day take of the underclass at play.Thankfully the kid came to no harm but putting both the dog and the parents down would probably be a blessing for society as a whole imo

Some four year olds are so advanced that they can open doors on their own.

I find it hard to get worked up about a four year old who went out for a walk and came to no harm. Four year olds aren't incapable - I was one of four children, all of whom were capable of walking to school on their own at age 4, and we did. As did most of the the other children. There's no mental inability to do it.

Yet more Pitbulls put down for attacking people. Ban these dogs and jail the chavs that own them.
