He needs a move away to a club where he can get a game, nothing substitutes for time on the pitch. Tarka will have gone backwards this year too.

He was always going to struggle to displace Lowton and/or Ward, that's it quite simply, despite what people have said about Lowton's ability last season.

Flanagan had a very serious injury from which he's still recovering in terms of getting back to football.

Flanagans reputation is writing cheques that his ability cannot cash.

The injury has stopped his progress and he may not be the same again who knows. At the moment he is nowhere near good enough to displace Ward or Lowton. He has had about one reasonable game and the rest fairly poor. A rim of games at a lower level would be best for him.

I think that is unfair unless you watched him many times before he sustained his injury.

Look at Marney & Vokes both of who took at least half a season (Flanagan has had about 5 games) before they started showing similar form to that prior to the injury. Some (possibly McCann, Weller & Smith?) Never fully rediscover their form after big injuries.

Scary that he only made up 24 this year.

He plays like he's 36.

I thought he plays more liked a 16 year old with the naivety he shows when attacked by a winger

Another loan flop. It's a shame but he needs to go back.

He came with an excellent reputation, all the Liverpool fans I know have raved about his quality and how he will be an excellent signing for us.

Turns out he is absolute dogger.

Lifestyle.

To br a top professional footballer you have to have the commitment and professionalism. You might not lose your ability but when others are training hard and committed they will surpass you.

The day before we played liverpool he was in town absolutely wasted. Fair enough he didnt play tht game but he played the tuesday at accy and was abysmal.

If you want to be a premier leagur footballer you have to live like one. At least during the seson.

Is this a rumour or can anybody actually first-hand confirm this?

I don't think footballers need to live a completely tee-total life, and I don't have a problem with them enjoying themselves (especially out of season), but if this is the case then he probably only has himself to blame for only being a part timer this year.

I was really looking forward to him signing. I though both Lowton and Ward had been a bit suspect at times, and needed proper competition. Ward has been excellent this year, and despite Lowton's obvious flaws (occasional defensive lapses and, regardless of what a huge number still think because of one pass against Liverpool, his complete inability to cross a ball), he hasn't given Flanagan a sniff.

But if Flanagan wants to get smashed the day before a game, regardless of whether or not he is playing, and just a few days before he is almost guaranteed a run out, then it's no wonder he hasn't featured much (if this is actually a true story).

Either way, I still think he had potential in a good team. He has looked a bit suspect defensively, but as an attacking full back, I do see some attacking prowess. He takes the ball in tight spaces, and isn't scared to go backwards if necessary in order to keep the attack going. I suppose only time will tell as to whether or not he fulfils his potential

Definitely not a rumour. And agree they should be able to go out. But theres a time and a place.

talking with a bunch of reds this last weekend about him. They're really saddened by my "reports" of him being "back-up" at best, and has lost 2 yards of pace. That's the injury. Sad for him.....

On a different note, Danny Ings still not back in training. He's lost two years now. They're even sadder about that....

4 days before a match for a young lad is nothing in terms of recovery. Sunday league managers will be picking players up straight from Blu bar.

After a drinking session with wild child Bamford who wouldn't look hamered days later. Flanagan hasn't been seen in a bar since the wild one went home to Boro I bet.

Correct , but beggars the question why we took him on loan in the first place .Two wasted loans this season thankfully it hasn't cost us , yet .

When he played against Stoke, he lost a yard over a yard, so something is clearly wrong. Not up to any real level of football.

It has nothing to do with him going out on the lash, its clear to everyone he's completely shot from injuries.
