Parking fines
New measures could be implemented with fines of £70 for people who park their cars on the pavement and kerbstones..Good idea or not ? It works in London..

Re: Parking fines
Would need to be enforced rigorously though and there would be some real aggravation doing it.
People whine enough as it is when they get caught with the most simple of offences, like staying longer then 40 mins in a 40min bay or over staying in a pay and display carpark when they've paid for a set amount of time.
I didn't realise it had been enforced in London for 40 odd years though.

Re: Parking fines
What about the poor blind person that has to negotiate these cars that are parked on the pavement..Must be awful for them having to risk going into the road to get round them..

Re: Parking fines
speaking of fines, i left mine on a car park in Whalley by the pub.One of them machines where you input the car reg, then buy a ticket.
It kept rejecting my coins. I left the car for 40 minutes, and left.
Keep getting letters now demanding hundreds of pounds from the company, it goes up with every letter. They even sent me a photo of my car.
I havent denied being there, but surely if the machine was faulty, i had no choice. I even had a word with other users to tell them the machine was buggered. When I returned, some folks were managing to obtain tickets. Not sure where i stand now legally?
Any suggestions ?

There's usually a number for you to ring if the ticket machine isn't working, thus they'll know why you haven't got a ticket.

Re: Parking fines
I think it's fair to say that if people didn't park on the kerb on many of our estates then they really couldn't park at all since emergency vehicles couldn't get through.
If my neighbour opposite doesn't park on the kerb, then it is almost impossible for me to reverse out of my drive. (Not impossible, but takes quite a bit of manoeuvering)

Are the government gonna compensate me when some prat smashes into my car then as the road space is too narrow?

Confusingly, perhaps, there are roads in London where you are expected to park on the pavements. Some of these are marked, but some aren't.conyoviejo wrote:New measures could be implemented with fines of £70 for people who park their cars on the pavement and kerbstones..Good idea or not ? Digressing, a little. I am one of many thousands who have missed a "trial, no motor vehicles (except buses and taxis) sign. It's costing me £90 - but making the council several millions. Councillors from the next council are among those that have been caught out - and are complaining about the poor signage.
