We've had some key decisions in games go against us which saw us lose points (and a few which did). Have we done well though to play teams at certain times?
Liverpool before they'd settled, Leicester, Bournemouth, Southampton in their poorest runs of form. Not to take anything away for our own endeavours.
Some good timing in our games ahead too.
Playing Spurs at home without their leading goal scorer.
Playing ManU at home in an April where they have 9 games. (Europa Home Tie 3 days before and Manchester Derby 3 days after)
Final 3 games in May could all be vs teams with nothing to play for.
Fixture positives. Meta Luck.

The way the fixtures fall - especially in relation to European games and international breaks is definitely a big factor.
The way the end of the season games pan out with teams with nothing to play for or resting players for FA Cup etc is also a lottery.
Let's hope we are one of those teams with nothing to play for - but even if we are I think we will not be "on the beach"

Bad timing as well - we didn't play Swansea under Bennett, for example. It works both ways.

It's something I've thought about. Just about all clubs have ups & downs during the season and it's a matter of luck whether the fixtures have you playing them on an up or a down. Over the season it'll tend to even out but if a team has more bad than good luck on this- it might add up to a couple of points that make the difference re playoffs or relegation.
As per some of the previous posts, we've had a mixture so far and probably about even Stevens.

Pure luck.
A system whereby the leagues are halved mid season and the 2 halves play each other, home and away, for Europe/promotion and relegation would take some of the luck out of the equation.

Anyone else notice Arsenal seem to have been on a downward spiral since we played them away?
