This could be ground breaking. It was like 45 seconds to overturn the 2nd linesman call. Quite a short time to get the correct call.

And they were extremely tight decisions too. It'll be even quicker for decisions that are more clear cut.

Well if they're clear cut they won't need the technology, will they now!

Clear cut to the video ref. It's pretty easy for a linesman to make a misjudgement and give someone as offside/onside when there was more than just a couple of centimeters in it, like in both these examples.

I don't know which bit to respond to Charlie.... that you're responding at this time of night, or that you didn't just say "hmm the bugger's got me there!"

It's morning here, and no. Linesmen get decisions wrong all the time that are marginal to the naked eye but far more clear cut when when viewed through the benefit of replay.

The only decision to go with is the correct decision.
No one wants to win by a hand-ball (unless you're Arsenal of course) !

Is it just for Goals being allowed or disallowed?
I was wondering what would happen if the attacker didn't get chance to score before the linesman had made the wrong decision.
So if the attacker was put through one on one with the keeper and then the ref noticed the linesman's flag and blew up incorrectly before he had chance to score.
Maybe the ref would hold the whistle until told otherwise by the video ref maybe? Would we even need linesmen if this is a success?!

Like we did against Leicester you mean? Interesting but I don't recall you complaining then. I'd rather no technology was used, the inconsistency of referees provides talking points and is built into the game. I don't watch rugby, American football, basketball or any of the other sh** stop start sports for a reason.

This has been my argument for video replay for years. You can never get that moment back again, from a restart. The lino should never flag offside. If a goal is scored it can be reviewed whilst the celebrations are ongoing. If it isn't score no harm done.
Post 7. NRC didn't see the French lino at Wembley miss the Lithuanian offside by 5 yards.

I don't recall the fatty Dunn equaliser at BollEwood a few years back being anything but clear cut but the liner and D'Urso still managed to get that wrong.

My concern is the length of delay that some of these decisions can take.

But there won't be any celebrations. Teams will score a goal, wait for the referee and then kick-off again.

One thing I noted was that the clock didn't stop during the decision moments; could this affect stoppage time minutes? Already, there are goals and subs minutes added on, plus injuries and now VTdecisions; are calculations gonna be so accurate in stoppage time?
Great point about the attacking situation and the overall fear of the game being stop/check a decision/start; for now it'll be restricted but i expect in the future years it will become more flexible (5 sec ads on TV aka US sports TV and the commercialisation during a match will go through the roof and be big bucks for FIFA)
