Post match traffic / Burnley to norfolk
Almost never have to drive after a home match but always notice how bad the traffic is
Need to get away fairly sharp after the match and then drive to norfolk today.
Is it best parking near the ground or parking up pike hill and walking there after the game? Which would be a quicker getaway? Presume a lot of spurs fans and maybe even all their coaches will go that way and down the m1?
Any Norfolk clarets regular do this route after a home game?
Thanks

Either leave 5 minutes early and park as near as you can or park on the car park near Kestrel suite or whatever it's called these days. Walk through the town centre in 5/10 mins and 2 minutes to the motorway in your car as you beat all the traffic.

Would you go down the m65 to norfolk. Id usually avoid that way and go through hebden bridge to the a1.

Personally I would go motorways as much as possible these days due to amount of traffic in towns. They're used to be loads of shortcuts through towns but I would rather keep moving at 70mph than chance it. P.S I've never been to Norfolk.

Morning Cc, whereabouts in Norfolk are you heading for? It might be better staying on the A1 until P,borough that way you avoid the road from hell that is the A17. UTC and safe journey.

It's almost a four hour journey, so being stuck in post match traffic for a few mins isn't
going to make much difference. So park wherever.
You're heading for the A1/A17 (presumably), so i would pick the M62 every time. Far quicker.
Have a good trip.

I don't have to drive home but if you are going that way then I'd park up Brunshaw Road, maybe one of the streets off there, just above the ground and, as long as you are quick getting out, you shouldn't have any problems getting away in that direction.cricketfieldclarets wrote:Would you go down the m65 to norfolk. KLClaret, going down to Pboro would be a hell of trek back up to Kings Lynn,
wouldn't it? Is the A17 that bad?

Not sure never been to kings lyn but used to go to Cambridge a bit when my brother used to live there. I'm sure the route I took was M62 A1 A14 M11 something like that anyway which is likely smilar. Park as near to one of the routes through Cliviger as possible Up Brunshaw road I guess would be best.

Electro, have driven loads all over UK and on a bad day the A17 can be a complete nightmare, tractors and hgv,s mainly.

Park around Mitella Street then up across the tops to Hebden Bridge, I'm usually back around Halifax by 5.30 at the latest

Well parked near the ground. Waited half an hour and then went hebden bridge. M62. A1. A17. Got there in three hours bang on so expect to accumulate more points between now and May than the clarets
A17 was fine. Got stuck behind one lorry for a while but that was it. One of easiest drives in a long time.
