Cricketfield issue and evacuation
Couldn't see what happened in there today but what happened with the evacuation on 80minutes?
Was it a protest to the apparent noise ban in the 2nd half?

Re: Cricketfield issue and evacuation
I commented on this at the time as I found it odd that so many people disappeared ......
Yes, it wasnt our best of days - BUT ... We were playing the current 2nd best team in the country .... And people are leaving like that..... Actually embarassing.
People say "we've got some of best ans in the Prem at home ........ " - Not too good today though.

Agree.
Not been at home for 7 weeks, sell out crowd and playing a top 4 team.
Team was poor today, support was worse.

Re: Cricketfield issue and evacuation
Support was fine. Team was outclassed. Traffic was infinitely more beatable than Spurs. Some fans are comfortable enough in their own psyche that they don't need the validation of being perceived by others as being a proper fan. The tribal $hit may be important to some. Pity. For others it's just a game you pay a lot of money to watch.

I wasn't in the Cricketfield but I left around 85 minutes.
I left because my blood pressure rose so high that I thought my head was going to explode.
I'll never get used to losing or playing poorly, so don't judge me or others.

In summary, you left early?Spiral wrote:Support was fine. Team was outclassed. Traffic was infinitely more beatable than Spurs. Re: Cricketfield issue and evacuation
Wrong. I sat on my seat until ten past five hoping the camera positioned in the JMU would catch a glimpse of me contemplating existence in the hope I might get my mug on MOTD. My granny watches MOTD and it would make her so happy to see me. See, I never visit her because she smells like pi$$. Two birds, one stone etc.Burnleyareback2 wrote:In summary, you left early?

Ok to summarise then, you ignored the fire drill.
Good on you

Being a responsible citizen, (and acutely aware of my own mortality and the capacity for fire to bring it about), I wouldn't ever ignore a fire drill, but I thought we'd established there wasn't a fire drill?

Re: Cricketfield issue and evacuation
It's not the best of stands to leave the ground from with only one exit and if you wait until the end it takes ten minutes if at the back.
In a close game it's worth staying but I left on 87 minutes with my lads to avoid the crowds and get my first pint of the day in the cricket club.
Sorry if it bothers you.

I was 2 years old last time we played them ...... So probably not mate.Vegas Claret wrote:I bet you weren't at Scarborough all those years ago !!!!
I just think we've been spoilt at home this season with the games we have had and it's blinded a few of the team we actually are. We lost 2-0 to a side that will win the title with pretty much that team in next couple of years......yet some fans feel like we just got relegated already.
Yes, we made some bad decisions and some of the play was a bit dross, but we still pushed on at times trying to break through them when everyone disappeared after Sons goal.
Each to their own if people want to leave early, I just dont get why as mentioned above... People would pay a lot of money to watch and possibly miss something big happening. I go to the cinema and it costs a fair whack now but don't leave with 10 mins of film left because the start of it was rubbish.

Re: Cricketfield issue and evacuation
I always believe we will have a chance and never leave early. Even against city at 6-1 ffs. Drenched. Stood there like a lost soul

Re: Cricketfield issue and evacuation
people have better things to do than waste up to an hour of their time sat in traffic because they stayed to watch the final 10 minutes of a one-sided men v boys game.

Don't think for a second that people aren't aware that your post is pursuant of your sack-race agenda rather than a sincere defence of people leaving early.KRBFC wrote:people have better things to do than waste up to an hour of their time sat in traffic because they stayed to watch the final 10 minutes of a one-sided men v boys game.

The exodus did seem a little odd in the CFS ,more so when the subject of their vaguely homoerotic favourite song (Steven Defour) had only been on a few mins .

Homoerotic?
I think the Spurs chant , "We're coming to get you Chelsea rentboys" led the way in that department.

I always get angry when people who spend their own money choose to leave early. Could we ask the club to padlock the gates until the final whistle is blown?

Re: Cricketfield issue and evacuation
hardly a show of disloyalty was it ?
few mins left, 2-0 down, probably best bet to nip away sharpish and head home.
The news coming through about some of our near opponents picking up points and suddenly playing like Real Madrid didnt help.
A depressing afternoon indeed.

Re: Cricketfield issue and evacuation
It's happened for years. I remember my uncle taking me on the Kop at Liverpool when they opened the gates for early leavers with 20 minutes to go. 100s piled out and 100s piled in for the free 20 minutes.

Re: Cricketfield issue and evacuation
How many 'fans leaving early aren't real fans' posts do we have every season? This must be number 3 so far for this season...
Re: Cricketfield issue and evacuation
There were a lot of un-familiar faces in the CFS thatsfor sure.
I thought the atmosphere was poor compared to the more recent home games.
Also having 2 Spurs fans sat next to didn't brighten my day to say the least. LOL
Did anyone else the see the Spurs fan with his scarf on being directed to his seat by the stewards? right at the front of the CFS in the middle of the home support. bizarre.
Thought to Spurs support was good a little loud and gobby coming out of the cricket club, but had some good banter with them.

Also when the longside was in it's pomp (early 90s fro me) it was a tradition to get through the gates for the last 10 minutes and watch on the bee hole end before picking up a half price pie on the way out.

I wasn't in the CFS but I left with 5 minutes to go on Saturday and I can't remember the last time I did that and I've been a season ticket holder since the 60s. However, it was one game where we were highly unlikely to get back into it and I thought a head start in driving back to Bournemouth would be more beneficial. Made it home by 9 pm so it was worth it.

I stayed to the end and didn't get back to Solihull until 9pm so you made an excellent decision in leaving earlyPaulclaret wrote:I wasn't in the CFS but I left with 5 minutes to go on Saturday and I can't remember the last time I did that and I've been a season ticket holder since the 60s. I can't honestly see a reason for anyone to get upset at fans leaving early. They spend a lot of money and, in many cases, a lot of time getting to and from the game. I, for example, have to commit around 10 or 11 hours of my life to attend each home fixture. If they decide that their commitment works better if they leave early so what. We all have to balance our lives and all the things we need to do for the sake of relationships, time, money etc. so the decisions they make are real to them just as moaners make decisions that they need to.
I have a season ticket but midweek games are usually out of the question for me due to needing to work until after I would have to leave for the Turf so I pay more per game than the quoted figure, I also spend more time than many supporters - does that make me more a Burnley fan than someone who only occasionally gets onto a game or someone who leaves after 75 minutes? I don't believe so. When my kids were little there were many times when I couldn't afford either the money or the time to attend Turf Moor very often (fortunately it coincided with the worst period of our history) but I'm now in a very different time of my life and time is something that, not unlimited, I have a freedom to spend doing something I enjoy

Proper fans stay to the end. Proves your lack of character when you leave early

Re: Cricketfield issue and evacuation
the same people round me leave early every week regardless of the state of the match-I will never understand it. i dont have an issue with it but i just dont get it. Presumably they missed the winning goal against palace. Hope saving about 5 mins in the car was worth it.
