I'd be pleasantly surprised if Keane signed an extension too!

Is he going to come off and twenty past eight this evening then? Seems ridiculous to have given a player such a short contract. Needs to be till at least 2200 tonight. Dyche out!

Re: Lowton signs new deal
I have to eat some humble pie regarding both fullbacks this year. Ward has been outstanding, and since about May last year I've been crying out for us to "get someone in" to replace/challenge him. Neither have needed that, which I think sums up the sort of characters fit well to Burnley, and Burnley fits well to them.
I hope a few more follow him.

Hard to believe it took him nearly half a season to displace Darikwa!

When was the last time people were this happy with both full backs?

Re: Lowton signs new deal
Like Ward, he's been a bit of an unsung hero. I think its because Burnley fans like to see our full backs have a bit of flair, players like Trippier, Camara and Mears who play an active part of an attack in going forwards. When if it bringing the ball forwards on the overlap or providing crosses.
But for me, when I saw Darikwa play in the cup this season, it made me realise how much better Lowton is although he isn't used as an attacking full back

He's been immense since Flanagan briefly took his place. Good news.

Think Lowton got injured not long before the start of the season so Darikwa automatically became first choiceRocketLawnChair wrote:Hard to believe it took him nearly half a season to displace Darikwa!

He's made some outstanding tackles this season, was it Alli he crunched into early on on Saturday?

Re: Lowton signs new deal
Lets hope in 3 years time his crossing is as good as Trippier's!
Re: Lowton signs new deal
Great news. Arguably in our top 3 players for the last 3 months along with Keane and Heaton. Always been a big fan, and as said above, can't believe it took so long for him to replace Darikwa.

I like Sean Dyche, just to clear that up.HendricksHair wrote:Think Lowton got injured not long before the start of the season so Darikwa automatically became first choice
I am convinced that if some on here caught SD in bed with their wife they'd tuck him in.
Darikwa played about 8 games more than he should before Lowton was given a go.

Re: Lowton signs new deal
I know that and I'm not saying Darikwa should've carried on playing I just meant that was the reason Darikwa started the first half of the season as our first choice RBRocketLawnChair wrote:I like Sean Dyche, just to clear that up.

I'd cheer him on with my wife, we're already separated so it wouldn't be an issue with me.RocketLawnChair wrote:I like Sean Dyche, just to clear that up.

I'm not sure how she'd feel, but I wouldn't care about that.

Re: Lowton signs new deal
Best right back at the club. Okay his crossing isn't as good as Trippier's but there isn't a right back in the division with better crossing than Trippier. We were spoilt with him.
As for Ward - seen as he's been mentioned - I think he's one of about three or four players Burnley currently have who could get a place at another Premier League club.
