Good player for us. People often forget the role he played. But he was as big a name as Wright and Gascoigne and probably outperformed the two of them. Shame he couldnt stay longer.

Cole was always a bit more understated a character which is probably why he isnt remembered as much as he should for his short time here.

Seconded.

I didn't realise how good an all-round footballer he was until he played for us.

Shame he had a couple of dark years down the road at the B@stards. What a player. Will forever remember QPR away.

Get well soon Coley!

Yep he's had this kidney issue for a while - his face really blew up and he looked like the Nutty Professor for a while !!

Hope he's ok - he was a brilliant player for United. Looked class when he was at Burnley and who could forget when he completely lost it and went after that 2 hat Darren Purse for nearly snapping Cole's leg in two v Cardiff at the Turf.

His performance, alongside Ade at QPR will live long in the memory.

Was on TV last season when he was on steroids and looked horrendous. Saw him last week on Football Focus and he looked so much better. All the best to him. Past his best when we got him but worth it for the wonderful performance with Ade at QPR and for chasing Darren Purse off the pitch against Cardiff.

At the supporters clubs player of the year evening that week, Mick Docherty confirmed he did get to Purse, but by then he was half way up Bacup Road. :D

Just a 'good' career? Sounds like you are the one that underrated him.

Purse got that card rescinded, I think so he could play in the fa cup.
Unbelievable one of the worst fouls I've ever seen.

And purse was an unused sub in the final just to rub it in!

Animal.

Remember seeing pictures of that injury after the Darren Purse challenge - seem to recall the cut being so deep Andrew Cole's shin bone was visible. Did well to chase him bearing in mind the extent of the damage.

Did well for us, proper professional, not just going through the motions - best wishes for a speedy return to better health.

That Cardiff 3-3 game was a cracker. I think Steven Thompson got their late equalizer.

I was surprised at home sharp Cole looked for us. He was around 36 but looked like our fittest player.
