Re: ARTICLE: Defour unable to train
Next time you see him just watch his knees as he walks. His lower legs flop around as if he has no tendons left. It is unnatural and could be a sign that he will never be 100%.
I'm sure he's as frustrated as the fans, but we need him fit, and if he can't find it then it's got to be a brief visit.
A great pity as his talent is massive.

Re: ARTICLE: Defour unable to train
He sprinted back (very well) to shut someone down and came up holding his quads.
Two minutes later he got crunched on the ankle.
I'm seriously not sure what people ******* want on here, Superman?

Re: ARTICLE: Defour unable to train
There was a post on here a while back talking about Defour's big injury in Portugal leaving a legacy and how we have top physios that knew how to deal with him in terms of playing time, training etc..
If correct is this the real issue perhaps.

Re: ARTICLE: Defour unable to train
Defour's touch and weight of pass is a delight to watch. He almost never loses the ball - yes he was on the periphery on Tuesday night - but everything he did was with the utmost as accuracy. I actually think he's worked really hard to do the 'framework' stuff and he does it pretty well. He's just not made of the strong, physical stuff as some of his colleagues and just where we are at the minute, those attributes are perhaps more important to our survival. For me he's made a considerable contribution to our points tally, he was instrumental in those early performances at home that got the whole momentum of our season going. Really gutted that he hasn't been able to stay fitter and expect he'd feel happier in a different league, no doubt stronger for the experience.
Wouldn't be surprised to see Stephens and Adam replace Barton and Defour in our midfield in the summer, seeing as how strongly linked players often make it to the Turf in the end.

Re: ARTICLE: Defour unable to train
Got injured doing what he shouldn't be doing anyway, chasing people down the wing and putting tackles in. That's Boyd or Arfields job.
You never saw Le Tissier on the wing tackling back!

Re: ARTICLE: Defour unable to train
The drop of the shoulder or feint one way move the other is class personified. It creates space which we are not yet able to exploit. He needs a good run in the team for us to see the benefit. He's worth the entrance money.

Doesn't really matter about the drop of his bloody shoulder
if his lower limbs are f***ed.

Actually I thought Adam was deceptively quick on Tuesday. quick thinking really does help.KefkaClaret wrote:Yes because what we need right now is an ageing midfielder with no pace.
