With tactics like that its no wonder we went on to register our first premier league away win that day by absolutely pasting a team from the east coast, fairly new to the league, who were languishing in the bottom three under a temporary manager.

In a season where we had started with an early away defeat at eventual champions Chelsea by losing 3-0, beating the existing premier league champions 1-0 at home and losing away to them 3-0, drawing at home to Arsenal 1-1 after taking the lead, beating Everton at home by a goal, registering our biggest home win of the season against Sunderland including a goal from the penalty spot.

So it doesnt seem like there are many omens for tomorrow being our first away win. There are vert few similarities at all... :D :D :D

Is that from one of those GCSE revision guides?

Iain Dowie always was a smart cookie

Hull temporary football management consultant Iain Dowie:
"There is a fragility about the place. We've got five games left and I will demand a response.
"We deviated from the game plan. But it is my responsibility and you have to take the brickbats. We will put in a display with more desire next week.
"Clearly it's not a result we would like to be associated with."

What on earth is brickbats haha! He won one game in 9.

For most of the first half that day Hull were by far the better side and we could so easily have been two or three behind. We hung on at 1-0 and then Pato equalised. Then came the second half.

Didnt they score after about a minute?

I was in the hull end that day. Was told to keep a low profile as they can get rowdy where we were sat.

'No problem, its away - we will be lucky to score!'

Needless to say it was impossible to contain myself. Especially on free ale!

Kevin Kilbane scored their goal and it was early in the game. Beast had a mare in that first half and I still don't know how we kept it to one. One thing I do remember is Michael Duff & Leon Cort clashing heads. Duff played the remainder of the game with a bandage around his head and Cort had this huge lump come up on his forehead.

Remember that game prompting one of my favourite comments on here, given our respective league positions, the clash between Burnley and Hull described by someone as "two bald men fighting over a comb"

Quite amazing to think that season included Brian Laws, Iain Dowie, Avram Grant, Mick McCarthy, Gianfranco Zola and Alex McLeish as Premier League Managers.

I remember someone promising to go out (maybe to the next game) dressed as a Smurf if we won that game.

Needless to say they never did.
