Re: Grand National
anyway, my tips for tomorrow are the aforementioned 3-0 win for us versus Boro, and Double Shuffle for the big race.
Not a clue about betting, but if I could double with these, I would.

Gas Line Boy e/w outsider bet. Consistent and likes the going so might place if it gets round.

I know nothing about racing but had a fiver left in my betting account so arbitrarily put it on The Young Master each way, quite nice to log on here and see that it looks like it could have a decent shot!

See Buxton, have faith. Unless you went to a bookie that didn't pay 5 places.

EW on cause of causes 16/1, saint are 40/1 and gas line boy 80/1, not going to be able to retire but profit's profit!

Re: Grand National
I drew my Gas Line Boy 80/1 (20/1) money out and left the odd £10 in. £5 e/w on one at Wolverhampton and now got £40 in there. I think I will stop before I push my luck. Next bet GN 2018. Thank you Mr. Bookie.

Re: Grand National
Well thats the second time in a week ive used this forum to lose money.
Re: Grand National
When I went into the bookies on Saturday morning I wrote out the betting slips of the horses I wanted to back in the National including Young Arthur.
I then saw that Young Arthur had not run for something like 84 days and I remembered that HappyClaret had said that all or as good as all the last 21 winners of the National had previously ran up to say 65 days before but not more than those days so I screw up the betting slip.
I then thought no you should never change your mind so I wrote out the betting slip for King Arthur and I'm glad I did

Re: Grand National
great event totally ruined by fat slobs and office party types, its become one of those things to "Do"
Vaccuous tarts in their clomping heels, no idea about the tradition, backed up by their turd like partners in ill fitting suits.
A littering, drunken mob, hijacking an institution.
Very tacky BBC coverage, with its cringeworthy address to the winning team. Horrible spectacle from start to finish.

Re: Grand National
Have to agree. Went last year for the first time and it was one of the worse sporting events I have attended. Didnt enjoy it in the slightest and absolutely love the races.Wile E Coyote wrote:great event totally ruined by fat slobs and office party types, its become one of those things to "Do"

Prefer to watch it on TV and go to small meetings for a day out.

Re: Grand National
well this years national winner well and truly smashed a few angles
overall I think the national wasnt a great race with so many fancied runners just not measuring up.
but I do think the winner was a good winner who could actually win this race again.
only an 8 yo so can have 2 or 3 more stabs at it as an older and stronger horse...albeit with a higher rating.
he wasnt on his ideal ground.
he wore headgear.
had a longish lay off.
didnt race prominently.
but you could call him the winner from some way out.
14 of the 1st 15 home wore some sort of headgear.
not a vintage race but a very well deserved success....no idea
if any of my 2 early fallers would have beat him....doubt it but would
have been nice to have had a run for my money...even if only a place or 2....just think of the trainer/owner
who have laid the horse out for the race only to fall at 1st/3rd fence or whatever.
well done all the Arthur backers....not sure this would have been a great race for the bookies with a blokes name winning.
if I owned this horse I would train him for the next 3 nationals only to keep a reasonable racing weight.
lets face it he has earned his oats now.

Re: Grand National
Interestingly all but 1 (Blacklion)of the 1st 10 home carried less than 11 stone
Also on the day I always buy the Time Form Racecard. Of the 7 winners on the day I think all but 1 had form/ground preference for heavy going .
I didn't do to bad on the day with 3 winners,2 2nds and a 3rd from the 7 races on the day
Alas Saint Are was the closest I got in the big one
